Pretty much. I've heard some horror stories from my coworkers but luckily haven't experienced anything too negative yet (at least at our branch). We have a good board and a pretty supportive community even though our county tends to lean Republican.

Libraries provide so much. I learned to love libraries a lot when i worked at one for 18 months before acquiring my current job like 10 years ago.
The smart homeless people hang out at libraries.
I always wanted to rent their office room and projector for gaming, but it never worked out with friends. it'd be like 10 bucks, maybe 15 for an hour, and that always seemed like such a great party game idea.
