Like how some parents expect their kids to just grow out of such (Boys will be boys and so on). Or like with victim blaming which takes burden of change off any predators when the victim is being shamed. Especially those with this mindset seeing actual predators as victims in their own rights. All it takes is: Not believing in something called gender identity, easy given it doesn't exist as matter that can be seen or touched. A belief that trans people are trying to change themselves fully to the opposite sex in every aspect, which everyone knows is not possible, trans people included. They're only trying to get as close as they can for their own comfort, which is still pretty damn close for government work. "Ha ha you can't change sex, you'll always be a man." You can also add in a dash of presuming trans people are being deceptive to the detriment of others and top it all of with an unhealthy dollop of "women must be protected from men". But at the end of the day there's no need to go too deep into the psyche.
