I've has gallbladder issues for a few years now. I have a feeling getting it removed is only a matter of time. You said recovering from the surgery is hell, how long does that hell last roughly?

Not long, and its not that bad these days, everything is laproscopic, your in and out in a couple hours and its just a couple months recovery making sure your cuts are cleaned every day for a couple weeks.

Post-surgery for an umbilical hernia. My usually innie belly button turned outie. It looked like a golf ball sticking out of my belly. The hernia itself didn't hurt at all, but the recovery from surgery to repair it had me laid up on a recliner in the living room for about 3 days. I didn't from that spot except to go to the bathroom. Pain meds did fuck all.

Had to vomit but it got caught part way up and caused chest pain/burning, pressure and trouble breathing bad enough that I dropped to the floor and and thought I was having a heart attack. I just layed there on the hard floor for like 30 minutes too stressed to move afterwards. The subsequent severe diarhea also make my asshole intensely sensitive. The barest motion caused severe sharp stinging pain and my stomach had a terrible gnawing pain. Even faint air movement severely stung.

I was so shaken that I had an outright phobia of naseau for a couple years. I took pepto everywhere with me, overcooked my meat, altered my diet, became seriously anxious at even the slightest sensation in my stomach.

Even having an elevated heart rate made me significantly anxious because my heart rate went absolutely nuts before I had vomited.

It wasn't my first time with food poisoning/stomach bug but it was vastly worse then others I had.

Honorable mentions

-Severe constipation
-Jaw locking to the side for about 30 seconds
-Grogily trying to get out of bed normally the night after double inguinal hernia surgery at ~4AM. Pain Meds were mostly worn off. It was brief but fuck it was intense.
-Somersaulting down a wood staircase as a kid, rolling down like a ball and slamming into the wall with at the base of my spine taking the brunt of the impact.
-Back pain from falling on ice

Gallbladder attack and post surgery for Gallbladder removal was way worse than any kidney stone I've had.

I had my Gallbladder out when I was 12 years old. I was freakishly young for it. I remember it hurt pretty damn bad but because I was so young it's a bit of a faded memory, I imagine it would have been the worst.

The worst I can fully remember was a spinal tap by a doctor who couldn't find the mark. Fucker must have jabbed me about a dozen times. I was practically unconscious by the time he found the spot he was looking for. I couldn't stand up straight for a week.

As a guy I also have to mention the ever dreaded zipper accident. That was not fun.

Car wreck when I was a kid. Seatbelt severed my intestines and the doctors didn't even check me for injuries after. So over the next week or so it grew worse and worse, till I was developing gangrene.

Though, after having surgery to remove the dead tissue, the scarring on my intestines is apparently in a spiral shape, which means sometimes they twist up on themselves and pinch. That's probably #1 actually. It's the only time I've ever passed out from pain. Because I was an idiot and it happened in the middle of the night and I really had to pee. I know not to know be when it happens or it gets worse... But I gently got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. But that was a mistake, the pain that hit me as I went was too much. As I tried making my way back to my room my vision went blurry, my ears were ringing, and the next thing I know I'm picking myself up out of the floor a few moments later.

The next day my parents said they heard me collapse, but went back to sleep anyway. lol
Thanks guys. >_>'

After my surgery to remove a tumor from my lower intestine and after I woke up I had severe pain in my shoulder and legs of all places. What I didnt know was when you get put under that gas in your body sometimes gets trapped and causes pain. I just had to wait to pass it but I wasnt even allowed to eat anything so all that gas was just trapped there for a couple days. Thankfully I could take some pain killers. Tumor was 9.5CM btw.

At least with the former, I feel some semblance of control because I drink shitloads of water.

The latter... no way to prevent that shit.

Broke a lower wisdom tooth, which was painful enough as is. While prepping to go to the ER since there was literally no dentists available, my dog pushed up on my chin playfully and managed to make that tooth hit something just perfectly to make it feel like my entire face was exploding.

The following pain was so intense I don't really know how to describe it in any other way.

I ate a wing so hot I had to sign a waiver. Eating it was the easy part as that pain subsided after about 10 minutes. When it hit my intestines I vomited and then writhed around in pain for a solid two hours. Just straight agony where nothing I could do gave any sense of relief. This was 2010. The restaurant still exists but the wing does not.

I remember my appendicitis being worse purely in terms of pain.

I was going to say being in labor with my first child (before the epidural), but then I remembered the pain after my c-section with my second child, and THEN I remembered how my catheter got clogged while I was recovering from that. That was probably the worst.

Fun Fact: The body produces an amnesia hormone that helps us forget the pain of labor. Otherwise we wouldnt ever agree to go through it again!

I think my pain with my first was exacerbated because I was so scared. He was 2 months early, and I didnt know if he was going to be okay.

Leaking CSF after a lumbar puncture. After about 48 hours my migraine was so bad I was vomiting and delirious, and the pain would get worse unless I remained lying down. I was living with my sister at the time, she said that she found me lying on our couch in the morning whimpering and crying, so she called our dad who came and took me to the emergency room. I have no recollection of this at all.

Infected tooth and the resulting dental work required all hurt like a motherfucker, but I would still have to say kidney stones are worse. Such an acute, paralyzing pain, and that's before you spend about a week pissing hot razor blades.

Proctalgia Fugax. Basically internal rectal spasms. I'm on medication now that helps but before that it was ruining my life. Just started having pain in my rectum like being stabbed with a knife over and over. Lasted anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes. With very little time between episodes. I couldn't sleep worth a damn because it was worse at night. Easily the worst pain of my life and I've had gallstones, broke a wrist, been popped in the eye.

This reminds me of the extra book in one of Skyrim's Creation Club contents. Specfically the Vigils armor set where one man described the feeling his cure for vampirism as "thousand little knives cutting into my bowels" or something similiar.

As far as me, I've never been any real serious physical pain in my life. Most of my trauma was mental growing up.

For all those stoners with kidney stones. Please disregard my previous post about dandelion tea, as that can be very dangerous for ppl on cannabis. Instead, try an alkaline diet. And look for alkaline water WITHOUT SODIUM BICARBONATE.
I cant stress that last part enough because that electrolyte added for taste will actually cause kidney stones. And most alkaline water on the shelf has it because its cheap.

Ive been doing an alkaline diet for the last few weeks and its changed my life. No more uric acid problems. And dont put too much emphasis on vegan alkaline. I still eat meat, cheese and eggs. Normal alkaline diet works too, its just harder to find information on.
