  1. Yes a big part of it is breeding
  2. No you cannot breed things "in and out" of dog breeds. It's breeding not Vulcan mind melding. When you create a breed, it will have a measure of inherent instincts based on their genetic makeup + the layer of individuality that all mammals have. Pit bulls have high energy / high metabolism from their terrier ancestry which causes them stress / need to constantly spend energy. They also get their strength from bulldogs which are far stronger than terriers. The result is a highly active, highly physical blood hound.
  3. Pit bulls weren't bred to be what they were because of unregulated breeding. Lots of dogs are privately bred, yet only pit bulls have this problem. Truth is pit bulls were DELIBERATELY bred to be this way, for blood sports/dog fighting. The creators of the breed knew and understood breeding very well and fashioned it to get perfect contender for dog fighting. People who continue to breed pit bulls are perpetuating the crimes committed by the blood sport ring leaders from decades ago.
  4. It can not, in fact, happen to any other dog. Dogs are still individuals and prone to anxiety, dementia, or other mental problems that can cause them to snap, but pit bulls and Staffordshire terriers are inherently high strung and aggressive and so they have a far lower threshold on what makes them snap and because of their strength when they do snap it's usually severe.
  5. The only regulation to fix this is BSL to stop people from breeding them.

Maybe TC makes so many pitbull topics because a friend or a family member or maybe TC himself was attacked by a pitbull at some point. It wouldnt be completely shocking with how many pitbull maulings, there are pitbull awareness organizations for victims whose sole agenda is to ban pitbulls.

Pit bulls have an extreme disproportionate share of attacks. Nothing else even comes close. So the answer is will there be another breed that has that same amount?

Chances are most likely after they're banned, they'll still be #1 for attacks because contrary to what some highly emotional reactionaries here think, a ban isn't genocide and even a total ban won't get rid of them.

Pit Bulls were bred from terriers and bulldogs. The reason they knew to do this is because terriers & bulldogs all had common traits in their breed. The result is a pit bull terrier who is neither a terrier or bulldog, it is its own breed, but just like other breeds, its own characteristics and mannerisms are common across all pit bulls. You cannot breed a different kind of pit bull. To try to do so simply results in a dog that isn't a pit bull, such as an English bull terrier. And no matter how many pit bulls you breed with each other, you will only get more and more of the same pit bulls.
