This level ("Out at Sea") is an Extra level but bears no resemblance to the one it connects to. This one feels impossible. You need to be able to unlock the door by pushing an ice block but then be able to push lava down into the box. You only have one IF block so only one of them can be pushed at once. And there's a one-way so once you pass the belt you can't adjust them, and there's not enough space in the little area to bring a statement with you

Really unclear how the pieces fit together in this one. "Falling" doesn't interact with "Pull" how you might expect, for example.

I watched Vinesauce play the game thinking it would be therapeutic to see someone work over the early levels but it's just kind of frustrating lol. When you're this far into Baba, it's like in The Matrix where they're looking at all the binary on the screen and just see the image. You have to be able to put together any trivial combination at a glance to be able to conceptualize the novel solutions the later levels require.

Actually a bit more work is required. You can raise up the other blocks above the center alcove so you have a chance to disable the 'pull' rule without falling down, then push 'is' using the 'push' block and walk onto a flag. Trying what's in the picture doesn't count as touching the flag if you push down 'FLAG' then walk left.

I was scared of Coronation on account of being an Extra but I find that the less pieces are available to play with, the better I can do. All I could do was play with the text. For me Mousehole was really hard, which also introduced that idea of using swap to occupy one slot with two things.

This is an insidious level IMO, since there's many different ideas or sequences that look promising but just lock up the game, until you realize you kind of need to do all of it but in the right order. Took me a while to realize I didn't need to move the rock off the middle right wall once I got it into the other area.

Pillarwork demanded a lot of outside the box thinking. I got on the right track when I decided Baba definitely needs to fall.

I didn't post about it, but "Trapped" could've been a very long wall for me.

Basically only realized I could make the belt not shift by accident. Instead I noticed that the upper box shifts object to the right when box is shift and wanted to use that to align Baba on the right wall. Unfortunately that still causes you to face that wall. The solution to shift the box with Baba feel almost barbarian by this point in the game.

This level was such a big difficulty outlier in the first release that in a later update they moved it to a special level and replaced its spot in the numbering with a level designed to teach the same concept in a different and more easily comprehensible way. Basically that single level got a tutorial added just for it.

The part about it never coming into play again though is just a lie, you'll definitely make use of that mechanic later

It's a level-based puzzle game where you really have to think outside the box. The goal of each level is to win, by touching an object that has the "win" property. But all the rules that govern how objects act, what objects are, how they can be interacted with, etc are also objects in the game field itself. There's a wall in your way? Go find the WALL IS STOP and move one of the words somewhere else and suddenly you can just walk through the wall. Or maybe replace STOP with WIN and now you win when you touch the wall. Or replace it with YOU and now you control the wall instead of whatever you were controlling before

Ye, the game is great but it (and Patrick's Parabox) really represent the "cute and fun little puzzle game turned testicular torsion generator" hard. Interesting you group parabox in with it, maybe it gets really hard in the last 2% of the game or something but I found most of it so braindead I just kinda dropped the game. It's a really good example I think of why every puzzle game needs a few red herrings in it since parabox solutions gradually get more and more complex but they never really get any more difficult

My other favourite cute -> impossible puzzle game is paquerette down the bunburrows, definitely recommend to anyone who likes level-based puzzle games that eventually just go off the deep end

Oh God, I'm not touching Bunburrows. That one looks sadistic by the end, especially if you are going for 100% (which I view as required for this sort of game).

And yeah, it's all about the last little bit. In both games they are mostly tame for a good 50%, tricky for 48%, and then psychopathic for the last 2%. As with all of these sorts of games how they are easier or harder based on how you personally view things. So because I tend to play a lot more word-based logic puzzles (mainly through mystery games, but also stuff like Heaven's Vault or Chants of Sennaar) I found Baba Is You much easier than Patrick's Parabox. It's in that sort of rationale that I feel that in a generic sense both are reasonably close to each other in difficulty, and it's more about what type of stuff I spend more time doing otherwise that really makes the "true" difference in difficulty.

I dont know your status on Mountaintop but a LOT of people got stuck on Floatiest Platform. Those two levels are awesome imo.

You're close to a breakthrough as an above poster said. If you're totally out of levels or stuck I'll try to nudge you in the right direction

That doesn't surprise me. I saw it ages ago when it came out and when I looked into some of the mechanics (through a simple review video) I instantly had my entire brain go up with red flags for how much utter nonsense you would have to do if you wanted to hit the last little bit (specifically the baby buns).

The thing with floatiest platform is the solution I used (Disordered You/Is/Rcok against the right of the screen to let the Babas stack was how I wanted to solve the non-Extra version. A level in the Void area (I believe "Lonely Sight") was also solved by stacking Baba (with use of the "On" rule somehow, I think "Baba On Baba is X"). When I flipped between Floaty and Floatiest to check the difference (Door not being Push) I saw it was possible now. Felt kinda sneaky of the level designers IMO

In hindsight it's pretty obvious the size of the outskirts of the level is significantly different. In the moment it's not something you really think about. Also, the win condition of not being LONELY is eluding just because you're preoccupied with staying on the tiles.

Only the first world or so of New Adventures have the super gimmicky stuff. After that it becomes standard Baba.

I agree with you though, the 3D levels are a huge pain in the ass. Did there really have to be like 4 of them? Lol
