A fun watch, but without the excitement of Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan being the stars of the moment and all the hype, it's a stock buddy action comedy. I mean those 2 literally made the movie. Without Jackie Chan stunts, it would just be a movie with some stereotypical black man annoying everyone. Without Chris Tucker, it would just be a typical Kung Fu action flick without anything memorable about it. Now are the films good? No, even Jackie Chan admitted he hated filming it and the sequels, but only did so to fund his other passion projects. But they're memorable, both the racist humor and stunts are forever in our heads and that's what makes them stand out from other typical buddy cop films... well Rush Hour 1&2. Brett Ratner had a huge dislike in having action scenes last more than 2 minutes, for some reason. He said he had fun working with Chris Tucker, but that the whole situation in making the movies was just unfun for him and he dislike the direction the movies took. I was drinking with friends and just saw some clips on TV but I know nothing about it other than it went straight to videotape and that's not a good sign. --- "A lesser talent couldn't have pulled it off.
