they aren't main characters, and they have nothing to do with the story in this game.

it's another sequel to base p5, kasumi wouldn't make sense to be in the game, period. the only reason they turned her into a dlc character is so they don't have a repeat of p5s, where the fans tore them apart for not having kasumi despite also being a sequel to base p5.

Atlus is pretty finicky when it comes to their stories and I feel one of the main reasons we don't get P5r sequels is because a certain character would need a name change and that would be a massive spoiler for P5R's extra content. P5s released close enough to Royal that I could see this being part of why they weren't in that game, however, its ridiculous at this point. Then again, Atlus only just allowed streamers to play the full game of P5R only a few months back so they probably still think its a spoiler worth protecting.

Still, P5S could've at least had a text message from them since it only shows a profile picture and not the actual name. And while most of the playable cast could just refer to their last name, it wouldn't really make sense from Joker's POV to not call them by their first name. And just calling them by their codename wouldn't make much sense either unless the game took place entirely in the Metaverse.

So basically what I'm saying is, Stop calling her Kasumi and start calling her Sumire. Then maybe Atlus will get the hint that its been four years since Royal and everyone who cares already knows.

And I would tell the mods to fuck off since the game is multiple years old. You can't claim that spoiler warnings are needed ad infinitum. Vader is Luke's dad, Rosebud is a sled, Neo is The One, Connor beats Kurgan at the end of Highlander and The Terminator gets melted by being dropped into molten steel at the end of T2.

Sure you can. There will always be people that want to experience things but haven't yet. The likelihood of encountering such a person decreases with the age and notoriety of whatever you're talking about, but it's still high enough that you should try to avoid dropping major spoilers unless you're in a context where spoilers for that work are to be expected and anyone looking to avoid being spoiled will know to avoid the discussion. There's a ton of media out there, such that being fully caught up on everything one is interested in takes quite a while and very few people can actually manage it.

The NA release was 3 years ago, and only on PS4. For anyone with a different system, the first release was only one year ago. That's not a long time at all, especially given how many people prefer to wait for a sale/price drop before buying games. Comparing that to >50-year-old movies is pretty laughable.

That too. 100+ hours can easily take 3-4 months to complete if somebody doesn't have a ton of spare time, or even longer if it's being split with other games or other pastimes. It's totally believable that even somebody who considers P5R a priority (and would therefore want to avoid spoilers) wouldn't have had a chance to make it through yet, if other games were higher on the list and they had to wait for the port.

Okay, I was actually expecting that post to be moderated a while ago. Anyway, the point is Atlus won't officially add her into a sequel until they feel its unnecessary to keep her real identity a secret which honestly may never happen given their track record of not even letting people fully stream P3 for well over a decade.
