Connery *would've* ended on the perfectly decent YOLT, but he got coaxed back for DAF.

Moore could've ended on Octopussy but against all reason they kept him on for AVTAK.

Brosnan had DAD, Craig has NTTD

Like Jesus christ, it seems like the only way for a Bond actor to go out on top is to barely do any. OHMSS was great but Lazenby lost interest in continuing and dipped, and Dalton got screwed by legal nonsense putting the franchise on hiatus.

Maybe the next Bond actor will have a worthwhile finale...in 25 goddam years Jesus this franchise is slow as shit now <_<

It definitively said "James Bond Will Return" just like every other one.

So either they're doing what everyone expects and starting another continuity, or Zombie Craig

Yeah, but it was fine since James Bond always returned. Would have been nice for the actors themselves. Can't comment on Craig because I still haven't seen NTTD. Spectre killed my interest in the Craig saga. Hopefully they'll either go back to the old loose and floating continuity or do period pieces with Bond in the 50s/60s fighting the Soviets like the novels.

Nah I just want at least one actor to be Bond for more than 3 movies *and* retire from the franchise on a high note.

Moore had like 3 chances but they kept bringing him back lol.

I disagree, heck Daniel Craig bond had a surprisingly good ending considering the trash fire that was spectre and disappointment of Skyfall.

The whole "having a daughter that he sacrifices his life for" was both very cliche, didn't fit in the bond world, and yet somehow kinda worked. Because we love Lea seydoux.

My main problem with NTTD is that the emotional beats all hinge on the single most boring Bond girl in the entire series. >_>

Also killing Felix fucking sucked they didn't need to throw that in there too fuck <_<

The more I hear about NTTD, the less I want to see it. I've seen much praise of it too, but it doesn't sound like something I'd like. The whole Craig run was a disappointment for me even if 2 of the movies were good, even if flawed. I hated the idea of rebooting JB in the first place. There was no need to.

It's worth watching, if for nothing else, to hear the worst title drop in the history of film and possibly all fiction.

Like CE has gone through countless "you know x, this really is y" meme threads and none of them are as bad as what NTTD pulled

Disagree, it was perfect for an omega watch ad (as you know it's the sponsored watch of Daniel Craig and James Bond)

I can picture the commercial now:

"Hey Bond do you know what time it is?"

"Yes *checks omega symbol watch* time to die"

My problem with NTTD is that if a villain is going to actually kill Bond, they'd better be the best damn villain of all time. Safin was decidedly not. NTTD was written backwards, and it shows.

But Daniel Craig and Lea Seydoux do a great job in that final scene. Whatever problems the movie (and Craig saga as a whole) had, the caliber of acting on display was never one of them.

So, why do you think it is people complain about "unnecessary" sequels but don't complain about getting "another Bond movie?" I've never been into the Bond series, though my father liked the movies and I've watched some with him back in the late 80's when I was a kid.

It's a series of adventures of the week. "Come see more of this character" rather than a complete narrative with a conclusion. The Craig era notwithstanding, but that has definitively concluded and the only way forward is another reboot.

I mean are you saying that the character should never return? We've had how many King Arthur, Robin Hood, and Batman's at this point, but you think James Bond should be the one that never gets a new iteration?

I greatly enjoyed it, not sure why others don't. The villain being weak is probably the biggest knock against it, but it has a lot of awesome moments. The Cuban shootout, the foggy forest and the final stairwell climb are just awesome.

I love the one shot stairwell climb especially because it reminds me of Casino Royale. Bond is struggling against one guy while tumbling down steps. In NTTD, he dispatches like 15 people with pure skill and violence. Really shows how much he has grown. Casino is him going down, NTTD is him going up. It's awesome.
