She bought a specific assortment of donuts, but they gave her mixed.

When she took them back, the cashier literally took the donuts out of the box and placed them back on the shelf instead of tossing them. My wife had these donuts for about 20 minutes before she realized the error. I havent worked in the food industry in over 16 years, but we would NEVER take food back from the customer and give it out to another, even if was a quick swap at the window. The moment you lose control of the food, its contaminated. My wife, being ServeSafe certified and still working part time at her old job until they can find a GM to replace her, is fucking PISSED.

Disgusting.

She bought a specific variety that she knows her employees will eat.

The cashier WAS the manager. Thats what makes it worse. I told her to call corporate. They dont take wrong orders seriously, but they will crack down on food safety issues.

That's not what Anthony Bourdain says. Shit like this happens all the time, that employee was just dumb enough to let you see it.

This too. Are these employees teenagers that are picky eaters that refuse to stray from their comfort zone? You drop any sort of assortment of donuts on a table and way away and that shit is gone regardless of the type lol.

Shes a GM. Theres literally nothing she can do about the healthcare and PTO the franchisee grants. They all get the same crappy benefits, even her. Which is why thats her part time job now.

For pay, she is constrained by the labor budget, but she pays well. Its the only way to get the employees to care about the food they send out and to prevent high turnover. She spent years trying to get the franchisee to understand that, and he finally caved when people started walking.

You have to remember that the GM cant do anything about benefits, and that pay falls within a band that she has to work within. She can lobby, but its ultimately up to the franchisee.

Because she knows what her employees like, she caters to them. After doing this enough, you notice what donuts are left behind. Why continue to buy them? Be attentive.

Because thats not ethical? Its not like the store offered for her to keep them. You cant just show up, expect them to replace something that is wrong, and not hand over what they messed up on. Because then they can simply say that youve accepted the wrong order and refuse to fix or refund it.

But you dont take it upon yourself to keep it. You bring it back, and they usually tell you to keep it or they toss it.

When I worked at Taco Bell, my GM was adamant that we take the food back and toss it because letting them keep the food incentivizes people to get the wrong order and have it replaced knowing they can keep the old food and essentially get double for one order.

Ah gotcha I wasn't sure of your wife's relative position in the company obviously. Yeah if that's where the limit is at now that's what it gives

Nah, her full time job is a federal position that is great. Shes only at her last position part time until they can find a competent GM to replace her.
