Hmm, what is known that causes it?

Not sure of the exact cause but it appears to be either asteroids (from space mining) or cargo containers (from blowing up ships) that end up following your ship around, so possibly something to do with how the game handles containers?

I have no idea why people subject themselves to this game.

There aren't that many alternatives on console unless you like Mass Effect remakes. It is one person flying around in space and 'exploring' strange biomes. And that 'person' can be customized and dressed up in different space suits (sorry No Man's Sky).

Is there one that makes it easier to level up? I gave up because levelling up becomes a chore after 50.

After level 50 you want to head to the high leveled systems. If you encounter the Starborn ships they can be worth 600 experience points each, spawn in groups of 3, and are easy to destroy. Planets with relatively weak swarming enemies at high levels can rack up XP as well since the high level ones are worth nearly 200 experience points each. On one planet I remember there were literal slugs that spawned in groups of a dozen or so and were basically easy XP farms worth several thousand XP when you happened upon them.

Heading to higher level systems also gives you access to the highest tier of weapons. They're currently bugged in their names, and still display 'Advanced' instead of 'Superior', but their damage and overall value will be higher. Look for weapons with 30k+ for their value.

Probably. Try using the search function. For a non mod way to level faster, you can use outpost to quickly farm kills on high exp enemies.

Doesn't work with the Game Pass version, sadly. Also, come to think of it, I'm not sure if mods kill achievements in the way console commands does or if they would be against True Achievements TOS (editing files is, there's even a post about it). I only wanted it for the level 100 achievement since I've done pretty much everything else in the game.

yeah gamepass version is harder to mod
