Also don't forget the homelessness that probably plays a huge role in the overdoses and alcohol deaths

A lot of things happened during the pandemic one of those things was a massive increase in loneliness in everybody but especially men some of whom never really regained their social circles or fell out of them because their depression became "off putting" to the friends they already had who dropped them and for introverts like myself who solem interact with people unless absolutely needed it only increased that habit and made even more difficult to get out of and for some getting out of it was never an option, for some, it felt like "Okay, I'll die alone" and feelings like that can get worse and worse and worse until bad choices become worse choices but you get it, right? This might be just me but I feel like this went hand and hand with the rise of grifters like Andrew Tate who treat women as sex toys and preach masculinity at all costs all the time, you can't be yourself, you can't show any emotion but aggressiveness, you can't ever be happy unless you're having sex with someone you don't like or are hanging out with people you don't really have anything in common with.

I'm talking about men here but honestly, men, women, children, elderly, we're all in trouble we were wholly unprepared for the damaging effect of a pandemic would have on people's minds and where's completely unprepared for how that damage will impact us all now and in the future as negative forces prey on these problems for money and power.

Not surprised. Even during peak covid I often saw husbands not wear masks while their wives did.

Men think they're invincible.

Until they're not.
This is what I've seen, telling the world you don't give a shit about your partner because she'll mask up but then you don't, defeating the whole purpose when you get back home. Fucking idiots

I think they meant mens emotional health is stigmatised and the existence of mental health problems in men is demonized. Thats what they meant by they.

I think it's because people subconsciously don't automatically see men as victims even if they personally don't think men are victims. The assumption is often that a bad situation a man is in is probably of his own making. So with that in mind, any issue there is with excess death isn't considered an actual issue because it's just seen as self-inflicted, and the victims had full control over their actions and knowledge of the consequences.

It's like the homeless man situation where people avoid them because the immediate thought isn't "What happened to him?" but "What did he do?"

In isolation who's gonna fare better? Men where we are told to be stoic and rational or women who can express their state of mind without judgment?

Love how ppl rush in here to talk about chuds and COVID deniers while completely ignoring COVID and illnesses is just one of the many causes of death and that suicide rates in men are much higher than suicide rates in women, like yea COVID deniers totally had a hand in the increasingly amounts of suicide rates among men

It was a general response to deaths and negative plights in general, not excusing anti-vaxxers. Holy shit dude

Whoa, this one hit. Well said.

It's like the homeless man situation where people avoid them because the immediate thought isn't "What happened to him?" but "What did he do?"

I mostly ask the former, but sadly it is also before I ask "Is that person just panhandling and has a car stashed somewhere?"

The point of the original post you responded to was that discussion about the idea of anti-vaxxers possibly being the majority of COVID deaths overtook other possibilities of why men may be dying to COVID more and the thread topic in general. I don't think the guy was even blaming you or your post, just making an observation (the amount of posts talking about anti-vaxxers).

My post in response to his was about how the discussion of anti-vaxxers shifted the discussion of the topic from something to be worried about into the majority of deaths (COVID) being anti-vaxxers which makes the deaths self-inflicted, making the topic of deaths as a whole sound like less of a real issue. That can often apply to the reaction to deaths of men in general. Waiving deaths by attributing them to a single, willing, self-inflicted issue when not all may actually apply, or in the case of the non-COVID deaths, the "Why".

Remember I have already responded to your post on the first page. I suggested that it was probably because men live unhealthier lifestyles resulting in more deaths from COVID. I didn't attack you.

And to be clear: I'm the last person to excuse anti-vaxxers lol. I got modded on 261 a few times because I celebrated their deaths. It's too crazy of a thing to do on a forum, I know, but I hate(d) anti-vaxxers/anti-maskers with every fiber of my being for killing so many people. But hey at least they helped Biden win.
