The backs were black. Eventually they quit working so you had to go adjust the voltage of the laser.

Edit: I was wrong,PS1 were black. Then blue PS2

Maybe it was blue but I remember I had to adjust it so much to play romance of the 3 kingdoms 7 I blew out the board.

Oh yeah I had to adjust the laser multiple times because the system failed that way pretty often. It finally went out and Sony replaced the drive. It died again later though.

They were a weird color idr if they was black or blue

Growlanser II and III were those, and so was Gungrave, IIRC. I got the two Growlanser games to work, but it always took a few tries. Gungrave never did.
