This is a topic that I had to repost with better grammar, after being ridiculed for a mistake in my previous title. But I think this is a key topic. COVID has taken a heavy toll on our society, especially on the retail workers who kept us fed, clothed, and entertained during the lockdowns. Many of them lost their lives to the virus, leaving behind families and friends who mourn them. The consumers, barely notice their absence. We just go on with our lives, oblivious to the changing landscape of retail. I work with the poorer people and I failed to connect the dots. Its just what happened collectively: so many of us didnt notice these people were dying.

But to fight this there was a Change...and what is that change? It is nothing less than a horrific exploitation of child labor. Some employers, driven by greed and indifference, are hiring children to fill the gaps left by the deceased workers. These children are desperate, poor, and powerless. Their parents are either dead or too scared to resist. They have no legal protection or recourse. They are forced to work long hours, for low wages, in unsafe and unhealthy conditions. They are robbed of their childhood, their education, and their future. Think it about if you are so poor you are sending little Jimmy to the mine. You can't get a good lawyer when he is crushed.

This is the grim legacy of COVID: a workforce that died, and a generation that suffers. Fuck the GOP.
