Not like marbling when the lean meat and fat are intertwined, but a hunk of fat on the end of a steak for example . It's my perception that most people enjoy eating it, but to me that's disgusting. The texture and the taste are both unappealing.

Depends on the cut of beef and how its cooked. Can be delish, but can also be inedible and gross.

The fat on the edge of a pork chop is awesome

How would you know that? Maybe I like everything else except fat. Why is it picky to not like something? I've had it many times and my tongue and brain say no.

To be fair, I used to be picky as a kid, but I'm pretty open to everything now. Still don't like raw tomatoes that much though.

if the cook actually knows what the fuck theyre doing and its not some garbage cut, the fat is fine. gristle is not fat. try turning the piece up on its side in the pan/on the grill to get a good sear/char on the fat cap
the fat just melts in your mouth and isnt unpleasant/chewy whatsoever

depends. i've had steaks where the leftover fat chunks melted in my mouth and were great if you ate it with a piece of meat. i've had others where it was basically cow-flavored silly putty.

Are you sure you're not talking about gristle? Fat's got flavor, gristle is very chewy (and I like it too).

Yeah I know, and I'd say that's a bit different from regular fat, but was trying to illustrate a point. Waygu tasted pretty weird to me. I don't want my meat to melt in my mouth, I enjoy chewing. I feel so alone in that thought.

i dont disagree and tbh i dont even like red meat
i was chef at a steakhouse for a few years and our most popular cut was filet mignon b/c of its "tenderness"
i hate filet
absolutely flavorless garbage cut imo
ribeye is prolly my fav cut, i think strip is easily the most palatable, but porterhouse/t-bone is prolly what to go for if you can afford it

I don't like them either and I cut the chunks of fat/gristle off the edges before I cook the meat if it isn't too difficult and I don't lose too much of the muscle meat by doing so.

This but it depends because like ribeyes have a chunk of fat in the middle that's soft. I dunno why the ny strip fat is hard.
