Then they hemorrhage money and close too. If youre a big fan of card games and want to open a shop for your community to have a dedicated place to get together and are prepared to lose money doing so then go for it. Distributors usually want a huge pre-order, and it can be months before you even see the product. So you are going to have $5-10k locked up in product, and will still have to compete with Amazon. You also won't know the EV value or how much you can sell a box till way after you've bought a pallet of them. If you watch a first look video from Wizards, those videos are primarily for LGS, that is usually around the time they are supposed to commit to buying product.
