I put on a Congressional hearing about "violent" video games as background noise (don't judge me), and everything seemed innocuous until it wrapped up and Joe Lieberman started talking about how we needed to keep troops in Iraq the literal second it ended. Genuinely insane.

insane yeah. But I miss those days. Arguing over the iraq war is better than fighting over maga politics.

The conservatives were wrong then, and they're wrong now.

They're like the dark side of the force.

Fear leads to anger.
Anger leads to hate.
Hate leads to being a Republican.

I'm Iraqi-American and I'm sorry but this is textbook privilege. I was a high schooler during the Iraq War and was both repulsed and threatened by the jingoism. I knew the war would be a terrible idea, but I didn't have the courage to speak my mind because I didn't want the other kids who were swept up in it to label me a traitor or a terrorist.

I'm not hand-waving the threat of MAGA. I certainly recognize it as a real threat to the future of our country, but I find the idea of "longing" for those days because the online arguments were easier to be disconnected and honestly hurtful.

Anyone whose inclination to opposition is "we need to do the opposite because they are the devil no matter what" need to, no joke, be purged from any political position in the USA.

The entire point of a republic is to be able to discuss things. Not just mess everything up because "oh a democrat liked this thing, we must all rally against it even if we literally are the ones who put this bill in place ourselves, because being friends ever is never allowed period and it would be better to all die in nuclear hellfire than to ever dare agree with the other party."

Which is literally how a lot of USA ELECTED republicans vote on stuff.

Its almost like all the people who say they are Putin suckers are right.

WOW. I feel bad that I said that. I didn't think of how the discussion of the iraq war would effect muslems living in the usa. I'm sorry I said that and I take it back.

I think the right thing to say is to get rid of the republicans. Hopefully the sup rime court invalidates trump leaving the GOP with no candidate.

This was a bipartisan effort, sadly. The GOP might have spearheaded it, but the Democrats put up zero resistance whatsoever.
