granted it's not proven to be effective and is basically just a scam company, so I doubt it's something a lot of people are doing on a regular basis, but it's hard to just call it a "conspiracy theory" when there's legit proven fact of companies trying to do it

I say this with no confirmation, but my gut instinct is that this conspiracy has fewer leaps to antisemitism than the others.

Someone who believes in that bullshit once sent a me a video which I watched out of boredom. While it wasn't immediate, the video did eventually say some antisemitic conspiracy bullshit.

For some it's being a pure troll and contrarian or self-described "free thinker" that "does their own research".

Others are genuine fundamentalists that believe the Biblical Genesis creation myth which is a geo-centric universe model.

It started as a really fringe thing and then so many people started pretending like they believed something stupid to be funny or troll that it got a lot of actual idiots to actually believe in it

This was great, had it on while I was driving home last night. I tuned out at the end because QAnon is just depressing. Flat earth at least seems mildly harmless as far as most conspiracies go, but I guess if you believe flat earth then you believe all the others.

let's not call it a model. It can't predict anything and it doesn't work or explain anything, the only way it works is by coming up with a series of increasingly incompatible and incoherent ideas.
