It's bad enough that everyone goes around with their faces glued to their cellphones, now we've got douchebags wearing goggles and waving their hands around at nothing like a bunch of rogue mimes.

I hope these people get mugged. That's what you get for wearing a $3,500 piece of trendy garbage in public. Moron.

On the plus side, it's the first such device that you could reasonably wear on the ski slopes without anybody batting an eye.

Muggers and thieves are worse, so I really hope you're just venting at something that really has no impact on you.

people can do whatever they want as long as it's not hurting others.

that said, I can't respect someone who actually wears those things in public. so, I'd probably stop acknowledging them altogether. now nobody wears apple vision pros because they're all invisible to me.

We had Google Glass like 10 years ago. This isn't a new issue. It's just been gone a while and now it's back.

Well, the other thing I'll expect to see is the same pushback that Google got with Google glass. Somebody wearing those is certainly not hurting others, but if there's a forward-facing camera then at the very least it's recording everybody around the user. And even though people shouldn't reasonably have expectations of privacy in public spaces, I want to say at least a few people who had Google Glass as early adopters got assaulted for just that reason.

Last year at a conference I went to one of the speakers was with a company that makes VR headsets/software that incorporates 3d models of construction projects so that contractors on site can walk around in an augmented reality version of the completed project on site to see where stuff is supposed to go. They had a system where you could set a point in the model, print a QR code, tape it to the wall at the job site in the same place, then scan it with the head set so everything would sink up and you could walk around the site.

The presentation ended with him laughing about how the only client they had sold on it so far was a DOT who bought 2 units, then shelved both of them after a week because (shocker) it turns out its not safe to have people in headsets try to navigate an augmented reality overlay in the middle of an active construction site.

After the presentation the presenter was hanging around and talking about how they are basically trying to resell it as you can use it to have virtual meetings from different locations in the 3d model to walk around it in cyber space together.
