I think there are some decent cutscenes though, but I think almost everybody who takes comics too seriously hated them. One comment kinda nailed it though. The people that bought it at launch are going to be the bulk of the people who buy it period. The gamers who are really into comic book shit (i.e., Millenials and younger Xers) don't generally care for that kind of game design and I don't think it's interesting enough to Zoomers to distract them from the other service-like games they're already invested in. This is game companies not listening to their audience and becoming increasingly detached from their consumers, and more in love with the business side. This is something people have been complaining about in increasing numbers for a while, it's just actually happening now. Then the first game play trailer came out and I was out. Taking all these characters and then deciding its going to be a third person shooter is a real head scratcher for me. It doesn't help that its only a dozen or so hours long, with nothing but repetitive gameplay after. Also if they were going to go the live service route then the game shouldn't have cost a fraction of what it did at launch, maybe even nothing. If your game is fun then players will naturally want more and spend more.
