My mother would say something like "God give me the strength not to leave" as a threat that she would leave this family and abandon us as a way to get us to behave and do what we're told. It's really funny in retrospect because now it's like oh lawdy we can't get rid of her. Karma

What are some other funny parent things you remember from childhood? Usually from mother but could be from father too (though dad memories are more fear based)

My mother was brainwashed by mid-late 90s Lifetime movies and whenever she would be slightly inconvenienced or talked back to she would pace around screaming "I'M DONE! I'M DONE! I'VE HAD IT!" while awkwardly monologuing like the protagonists of the movies.
