Like China is similar in size, but the population difference between it and the Americas combined is more than the current US population.
India is smaller, but has almost as many people as China.
Europe is a bit larger than the US, but has well over twice the population.

This. Don't buy into conservative propaganda that we are at our limit when it comes to land and available resources. It's a scam they are pushing to maximize profit on what is being offered.

Sure, they're little if you compare them to the average Dutch or Swedish person, but they're not that little.

I'm definitely not conservative, but there is a limit to farmable and hospitable land. Just because there's lots of empty land in arid mountains and desert doesn't mean that they are actually suited to hold a lot of people.

There is but we aren't near the limit as they try to make it seem. A huge part of the problem is that our economic system was designed to mainly benefit the small few on top and encourages wastefulness and greed. It also irresponsibly encourages abuse of the land and people. This system was made and is perpetuated by absolute idiots and it's only a matter of time until it collapses, although they will take at least a few generations to happen if a large scale world war doesn't happen first.

Definitely fair. There are more efficiencies we can utilize that simply won't be done.

I wouldnt consider Indias living conditions something to be aspired to.

Theres a quote in the book Dune that touches on the idea.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans in the finite space of a planetary ecosystem as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who do survive.

Not saying the US should have 1.4+ billion people. But youd really expect like 700 million people at least.

I'm not an anti-natalist, or xenophobic nationalist, or nihilist, or population alarmist...

But it's not that the United States has very few people, it's that those other places mentioned have extremely dense populations.

I hear in India there's not enough toilets for all the people. I've seen videos of people pooping on a crowded beach.

Yeah, I'm fine with America's population. I don't think I could poop with people watching.

I don't think this really captures the actual reason, since it brings to mind an image of cities where everyone is just jampacked together. but the biggest and most densely populated chinese cities are not really any denser (and in many cases are less dense) than the biggest ones in the USA

the thing that makes their poulation so high is that they consistently have many large cities. In the USA, the 5th largest city is about a 3rd the size of the largest, and the 50th largest is about 1/20th. in china the 5th largest is still over half the size of the largest and the 50th is about 1/10th.

I wouldn't really say it means the country itself is extremely densely populated it's just that the number of large cities is much higher
