Sorry, realized I should have tried to put in event before level as the topic's about how the entire news business is on the verge of completely collapsing into just whoever has the best podcast dominating the news.

As bad as its been, the fact that news itself is just entirely devolving into those with the most power shouting there truth into reality is really horrifying.

You could argue how it was like that already, and how much news has " Bias" but I don't think pepole are really realizing the full effect of what happens when the majority of the news industry collapses...I suppose one can look at the likes of Russia or China to get a idea of what's in store though. People in America and other places have taken for granted the news and are not really realizing what happens when its not just slanted but completely collapses any purpose other then to be the mouthpiece of a few.

Like...just image if Trump just said what the news of the day is for the entire nation....for everything up to the weather.

Media will be one of the first things to go away in an actual extinction event.

By which I mean, the power and networks going unstable and then finally completely out as a proper collapse of civilization occurs.

It always was kinda stupid to just put all our trade-based systems into the internet for convenience. When it breaks upon something going bad with it (power-wise or else), it will be VERY bad.

Our whole system and society is one bad error away from total collapse. It's actually terrifying if you stop and think about how fragile it really is.

So many see no problem just giving just about absolute power to a few rich men because it makes a few things go faster because they can't think of anything beyond surface value...its really seeming like everyone gave most of humanity to much credit.

Tbh media would be the least on our mind when humanity went extinct

It would be a shame for all of the traditional mainstream media to go extinct, but the US political mainstream media in particular needs to go extinct ASAP.

Looking at the list of bankrupted companies, isn't it mostly neutral or left leaning sites? Meanwhile, right wing media is thriving and is just about the only voice in the room now. Even CNN is drifting that direction. Elon controls Twitter as well. Get ready for every network to cover Trump rallies again and talk about how old Biden is all the time.

I suppose things about lies are doing better, or cheaper because they don't depend on any legit research sadly.

The media has repackaged and resold the same things for decades.
