It's been about a year since I first played and I'm thinking of revisiting KOTOR 2. I liked the game. I played it a lot in a short time though so I got burned out having to run laps of Telos and Nar Shadda.

What are some cool things I might have missed?
The main one right now is that I barely interacted with GOTO so I want to try levelling him and finding his quest. I was also thinking of trying to make a heavily armored blaster team with minimal force reliance.

Dual Blasters are actually kinda ridiculously strong in that game. Fun too.

You can get Mandalorian Rippers to crit on a role of 7 if you know what you're doing.

That depends.

Restored Content Mod, or no?

Because that's where like 80% of the fun optional stuff is.

And half the crew's character arcs.

If you're doing just a fun run, get Skip Paragus, restored content mod, and KSE. You can cheat hardcore with KSE but you can also do it for not so cheaty things like turning yourself into a twilek or wookiee

Have you visited the temple of Ludo Kressh on Korriban?

Did you help Geeda (the rodian trader on Nar Shaddaa) establish new trade routes?

Were you able to beat everyone at the Pazaak Den (by actually playing Pazaak with them)?

I did the APATHY IS DEATH cave a bunch of times, enemies don't respawn in this game so I started taking all the EXP I could get.

I did do that trade route quest a couple of times, there was a rival trader who I don't think I ever sided with though.

I never chanced it with Pazaak, reminded me too much of Caravan in New Vegas which took too much preparation and offered too little. That bit in brackets makes it sound like you can sabotage the game or make the others quit though. That's interesting.

I suppose the obvious thing to do would be to swap your gender and alignment, to get the different crew members, dialogs, etc

LARPing as Ardanian Soldiers was the right call.
Atton yelling MORE WHERE THAT CAME FROM three times in a row would be right at home in Xenoblade 2.

Yeah, despite Fallout: New Vegas being one of my favorite games ever, I agree that Caravan was way too convoluted. I did once take my time to learn the rules in order to get the achievements, but I still never really got the hang of it and half of the time I won/lost without knowing how.

Pazaak is much easier to learn though. It's not much different from Blackjack, but the main differences are:
  • The goal is to reach a total of 20 (or the closest number under it).
  • With the cards in your hand you can change the sum of your cards that are currently in play (for example: if you've been dealt 6, 10 and 7, that would make a total of 23, which results in a loss unless you play a -3 card at least).

Pretty sure Caravan was about trying to make 24.
I spent a while filling my deck with 6, 8, 10, Kings and Queens. I forget the intricacies but that was the strat.

I looked at the achievement list earlier and it's got one for playing Pazaak honestly and one for convincing the champ to throw the game. I'd use this as my to-do list, but it only accounts for things you can do in the base game and not the restoration.

It says there's something for breaking Hanharr's spirit however you do this. I've found a conversation chain where you can promise to not dishonor him and get +1 constitution out of it, but that seems like the opposite.

As for GOTO, I'm not sure what to do. Maybe I've done things in the wrong order and recruited him after all the good opportunities to build rep with him were expired.
Korriban, the second Onderon visit and the ending are all that's left. Fingers crossed Onderon pulls through because I doubt he's gonna care about the Sith academy or the apathy is death cave.

Topic is making me want to try to play through KOTOR... I tried once about ten years ago and was kinda turned off at how absurd the choices were. Like early on you run into some retirement home / cyrogenic freezing place and if you want to be an evil character you can just decide to disable everything and kill everyone in there, except it just felt... really unnecessary and excessively evil even for the evilest of Star Wars villains.

It's a Dark Side thing, I don't remember the exact steps but it does something like -2 Int +2 Str.

You can repeat it until his Int drops below 0 and it wraps back around to the maximum.

My character is a dark side character.
I've been building rep with him because you build it by asserting how strong and nefarious you are to him. Was I actually supposed to try and have as little rep as possible with him for the bonus?

Easier to just link something, I don't remember well enough to answer.

Dumb question. What happens if I try to make an Exile that can't fight very well?
Sometimes in New Vegas I like to make a character and put all my points into non-combat skills then have ED "Eduardo" -E and Boone fight enemies for me.

I'm thinking Hanharr is strong enough to play most of the game for me, but there's a few points where my character is on his own. Is this a horrible idea or could I still get by using buffs, shields and items?
I want to try a run with a character that can bulldoze any speech check and repair everything easily.

Tbh it sounds like a challenge to actually make a character who will suck at combat. I think the way the skill development is designed in this game, you almost inevitably become good at some stuff. At worst, your character's combat skills will be 'meh' because you won't be getting the most potential out of it.

Think I'm done. It's fun, but the linearity makes repeat playthroughs difficult.
If you didn't have to commit to long stretches I might like it more. Peragus -> Telos Citadel -> Telos surface -> generic base -> Atris before you're finally allowed to make some decisions a few hours in is pretty rough if you've already done it in the past few days.

Nar Shadda once Visquis wants to see you all the way to GOTO's Yacht is pretty on rails. The Dxun Onderon sequence has a bit of it too. Maybe it'd make all the difference if the whole game moved faster.
