I don't even follow One Piece, but I just assumed from the bits and pieces I pick up in these threads that Black Beard being a Buccaneer was all but confirmed. He has the build, the powers, and he's always "special" somehow.

Like are people not seeing it because they don't like the idea or something? It's so obvious. Who wants to bet on it?

Most people online think it has to do with Rocks being Blackbeard's father (among other evidence such as the name of Blackbeard's ship). Either way, still wondering how this will play into Blackbeard's ability to use two Devil Fruit's together.

Ever seen Black Beard's Jolly Roger? A fun theory is that Black Beard has some sort of 3 headed Mythical Zoan (Cerberus, Ghidorah, etc) that lets him use 3 DF at once.

3 heads- 3 bodies- 3 DF's.

Moria also has a giant upper body and tiny legs, so does Franky but he's mostly robotic so it gets a pass. I think this is just how Oda draws his bigger characters, the only one that's basically properly proportioned is Whitebeard. I don't think basing Blackbeard being Buccaneer on his appearance works well, he's also much smaller than Kuma. I'm not saying he isn't Buccaneer but basing it mostly on his appearance is a stretch.

If you want to argue they talked about Buccaneers and then mentioned Blackbeard is special, that's a possibility, but they also gave us a lot more on Rocks in the flashback too, so that could be his connection.

It's obvious it's Rocks related. Luffy and Teach have been shown repeatedly to be off opposite ends of their goals and dreams. Not to mention the WG would have tried to silence him a long time ago considering they know of his bloodline if he was actually a buccaneer.

The theory is that Teach already had the Mythical Zoan from the begining and has walking around with 3 DF ever since he got the Quake Fruit.

You'll probably find out in 600 episodes or so.

One Piece is 1108 chapters as of today and you could probably have cut out 100 of them with better pacing.

you could have probably cut 5-600 or so. The shit is mostly filler and I dont understand how people religiously follow the series.

One major problem is that Oda almost never kills a character ever, but then has to keep incorporating them into the overall story. So you wind up with an extremely bloated cast that keeps ballooning after every arc.

There's no such thing as filler in original source.

I don't think Yazarogi understands what filler is, or how cutting the chapter count down that severely would really hurt the pacing and world building of a series that has some of, if not the, best overall world building in manga

Either that or they've only watched the anime, which is admittedly fairly generous with filler and episode padding

It's also entirely possible just by looking at each and every one of their posts in this topic that they've never even read the series to begin with and are just trolling

One Piece needs more chapters if anything, the last few years have been cluttered messes to the point where it's really apparent that the paneling has gotten actively worse because there is so much more going on.

you could cut out a lot of the running around, and also trim down a lot of Oda's post-skip "introduce a dozen new characters per arc and give them a lot of focus". Would probably remove about 1/3rd or 1/4th from each arc in the FMI-Wano stretch while also allowing the main crew to get more focus.

It depends on how you're looking at it. Oda really likes to insert one arc characters that don't really mean much in the long term, like 6 Vegapunks. Removing them would drastically alter the story obviously, but you could definitely cut hundreds of chapters and refocus the series.

I agree that cutting down on the running around wouldn't hurt, but saying "don't introduce as many new characters every arc" is ridiculous. The One Piece world feels alive BECAUSE of how many characters live in it, and their contrasting personalities.

The character is only relevant for one arc? So what? I see people complaining about this, and also complaining that Oda brings back old characters too often (sometimes it's the same person making both complaints), so let's choose a lane please.

I do have an unnecessary hatred for the series. I'll try and give it a shot at a later date, maybe whenever it's done.

RIP Vegapunk, that was absolutely a dead man's switch message

I know a lot of people will be pulling for Lilith but if one of the remaining Vegapunk satellites join the crew, I kind of hope it's Atlas. Her energy matches the crew better and she has a more interesting design that contrasts with the designs of Nami and Robin a bit more, and could be the "giant" of the crew.

It would also be nice to have a female crew member who's actually physically able to throw down and just beat the shit out of an opponent, especially now that we're in the final arc and there's really not a lot of time left for power-ups though lol

Also I still have Bartolomeo and Yamato on my wish-list for the actual crew. I know Bart is a captain in the Grand Fleet, but it would have been hilarious to see him hand that role over to Gambia and join the Straw Hats directly as a cabin boy just so he could be on the same ship as his heroes. (I'd also love to see his reaction to Gear 5/Nika Luffy) And Yamato really feels like he should have joined as a guide to Laugh Tale, since he had memorized Oden's travel journal; he's also an incredibly powerful fighter with a strong Devil Fruit, which is obviously an advantage for the final conflict against either Blackbeard or Imu.

I'm so hyped for the next chapter after that cliffhanger. RIP Vegapunk, I don't believe the Kizaru cope.

I think if Kuma survives this arc, it would be way more fitting for her to sail with him instead of the Straw Hats.
