Average height of men in North America as I recall is 5'9. 2 inches shorter than average is still well with the average height. 5'7 is not short.

People seem to think that 6 feet is average for some reason.

A lot of people seem to think 6 is average. Even before realizing I was nonbinary, I didn't feel short at 5'7 or 5'8

EDIT: missed the original edit, we both said the exact same thing about 6 feet.

I think a lot of people have skewed views on what constitutes average height. I certainly did for a long time. I didnt really think of myself as being taller than average until I went to university because all of my family and friends were taller than average. Im the shortest of the men in my family at 63.

Again, 5'9 is the average height in the USA for men, 5'7 is objectively not short. If 5'11 isn't tall then 5'7 isn't short and I don't know anybody who would claim somebody who's 5'11 as being tall.

It's not short, as I pointed out earlier people have a stupidly distorted idea of what's average. People act like 6'0 is average when it's absolutely not.

I also don't buy that bullshit about women not even looking at you if you're 5'10, that's incel type bullshit, I had no problem dating women and I'm right in between 5'9 and 5'10. I also have friends shorter than me who like me are married.

Now before you find some edge case example of a person who cares that much about height just know nobody actually should care what edge case morons say.

Myth perpetrated by manosphere types to blame women for their own inadequacies.

As a short guy myself "5'6" that does hang around other short guys most of us aren't "overly aggressive", in fact most of us are like normal people...we mind our own business. The ones that are "overly aggressive" are because their personality. With that said, I have met 1 or 2 of them with a case of Napoleon Complex and many of that comes from society openly making fun of short guys...a feature none of us have any control over. It's more perfectly acceptable to make fun of short guys, even to their face than making fun of a girl who is fat. I used to be fairly passive aggressive about my height in my highschool and early college years, but it was something I grew out of (metaphorically) as I matured and starting living in the real world.

5'9"-5'10" are average and not considered tall or short. Although the average height in the US is 5'9", the average height among certain demographics is 5'10".

To be fair if we went by demographics the average hispanic/asian man is around 5'7. >_>

Average is a range. Now, I'd probably argue that if you're 5'6 you're short but 5'7? I'm sorry but if 5'11 isn't tall (and nobody says it is from what I can tell) then 5'7 isn't short.

The issue with this logic is that it doesn't account for rising standards.

It's possible that 5'11 used to be considered tall, but due to rising average heights, it no longer is.

But that doesn't mean that all of a sudden the range also expanded on the other end, and 5'7 is now not short.

If we took that reasoning to the extreme then once 6'0 is no longer considered tall 5'6 will no longer be considered short, when 6'1 is no longer tall 5'5 is no longer short, etc.

Meanwhile when I get aggressive people just laugh at me (411)

It would change in the other direction, as in a 5'8 guy would eventually be considered short as the average height rose, and so on. Obviously it won't magically make 5'7 average.
