For seven years, San Francisco kept a business ban on states that would defy the values of the city. But the plan backfired and in the end - the ban hurt San Franciscans more than the other way around

What they were doing made sense. Avoid doing business with bigots. They just went about it in the wrong way. You can't just outright ban your city from doing business with 60% of the country with zero exceptions. It's too large of a ban

Florida did something similar where they banned certain investments because they reminded the government too much of The Woke and it resulted in Floridians losing a bunch of money and paying higher interest rates. I dont really remember the specifics though.
