I enjoyed the first one, but it was a very easy game and somewhat encouraged save scumming since random shit could happen that'd wipe out your best squad mate.

I save-scummed my way through XCOM2 the first time I played and didn't enjoy being on a timer all the time. Seems to have issues on Steam Deck, too.

I already bought it at full price on release along with the DLC

ive been wanting to try beating it on the second easiest difficulty (Ive only beaten it on the easiest) but Ill usually get a couple missions in and everything goes horribly wrong and I lose my A-Team or at least some of my A-Team and I lose my desire to continue

it doesnt play good/at all on the rog ally/controller either which locks me to my PC, but in my PC Im playing P3Reload atm

I loved Xcom 1 but absolutely hated Xcom 2. I used a mod to get rid of the timers, but even on easy mode it constantly does everything it can to annoy you and fuck you over. The bosses that could use a turn every time you shot them were the worst because they'd just wipe out your entire squad if you failed to freeze them.

1st one was so good and all they had to do was give us more Xcom with some nicer graphics and cool new mechanics, and all we got was more frustration and bullshit. No idea why people go so crazy for it compared to the first one.

If you're interested in games like it, get the first one if you haven't. Mutant Year Zero, Wasteland 2 and 3 are great as well, but are obviously not 2K games so they're not on sale.

I also used a mod to make the turn timers more forgiving because they're just a bit too tight baseline (the mod I used would only start the turn timers after my squad was discovered, which ended up being a perk you could get from one of the DLC factions later on lol).

Haven't done a run with the alien rulers yet, they seem to get very mixed reactions from people. I bought and installed that DLC at the end of my first WOTC run and had one show up but by then I was so OP that I blew it to hell in one round.

WOTC blew baseline XCOM2 out of the water, I'm looking forward to doing my second run in it in the latter half of the year.

The Alien Rulers can be easily cheesed with the repeater attachment for your weapons. Anything in the game can I guess. It's pretty busted.

I only ever played with WOTC installed, but I didn't think the turn timers were that bad. They might have been a lot worse in vanilla. But in my experience, at least half the missions didn't have them at all, and those that did were pretty generous.
