So, I like airsoft stuff. I've never been big into guns, but air guns are kind of cool and offer target shooting for less investment. Fun, right? Well, the last 3 days have convinced me I'm a dipshit.

Two nights ago I'm firing at cardboard with steel bbs on a 400 fps airsoft revolver. I shoot my hand twice on accident; I'm raising both hands, fire early because I'm clumsy, then just twitch a second shot. Nothing awful, but my left hand hurts and it bled a bit.

Tonight I cast aside my concerns and practice again; this time I fuck up again and shoot myself in my hand, this time in a vein, causing comical amounts of blood. I am actually traumatized by it. Currently drinking whisky and nursing the wound; it stopped bleeding after 3-4 minutes with pressure, but it's the scariest injury I've ever had.

Lesson learned: I'm either too dumb or clumsy (or both) to operate an airsoft gun, let alone a firearm. Be careful, folks

Why are you shooting steel bbs and not plastic air soft rounds? That's literally the point of airsoft lol

The rounds I have for my proper air guns were the steel bbs :(

Buy some plastic ones. Airsoft guns are made for those, and while they can pinch and sting and break the skin at high enough speeds, they're not nearly as dangerous as steel bbs are.

If I ever touch air guns again, 100%. Idk if I will though, it as freaky to see blood just fly out of my hand

I'm trying to picture what you're doing but can't see it. How would you get your offhand in front of the muzzle

I raised both hands at once, somehow got them out of sync, and fired early. We're talking some dumb shit

That literally doesn't make sense unless you were being negligently dumb. You're right, you shouldn't own anything that fires projectiles, you clearly can't be trusted with them.

It's inherently kind of absurd and I don't really disagree, hence the topic title. At minimum I wouldn't use steel bbs ever again

I'm sorry to hear that TC but 2 gun-related injuries in 2 days? Gun is something that you can never afford to 'fuck around and find out' :)

Please just don't use anything. Plastic bbs can still injure others, especially if hit in the face without protection. Judging by your track record, the chance of this happening is significantly above zero, so just put them down for Uber safety of yourself and those around you.

The video is a pretty good lesson on proper form

I nominate that "moron and a fool" (or perhaps fool and a moron) become the alternative to "gentleman and scholar"

Also, damn, I hope your injuries heal quickly.
