https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJf6MUxJtOw

definitely won't be trying it for long because there's nft/blockchain elements, i'm just curious about the soundtrack

I was wondering what made this especially bad over any other Gacha, but then it happened.

i'm keeping my fingers crossed the elements are limited to just "you can turn your gacha characters into nfts" (i've actually tried another one that had this out of the blue, of course i didn't use the feature though) and not "this is absolutely going to murder my pc"

so i accidentally managed to end up in the top 20 players on the server for that game (which had like, at least 10k players) up till now despite not spending a cent on it

the music appears to have just come straight from the original phantom of the kill game it's based off so nothing special there (well, actually og phantom of the kill's soundtrack is actually really good but, like, y'know, it means this doesn't have an ost), also it is kinda uh.... very barebones, no story or anything, i think they just reused some of the systems from their failed sakura ignoramus game last year and took out any actual gameplay to make it an autobattler. despite this i can say i didn't outright dislike it, the rewards were solid (constantly being barraged by "surprise sales" to get character shards for like $50 aside), since it just gives you like 150 gacha rolls as free rewards in the first few hours. also yeah the blockchain and nft elements are tied to the game but not like directly in it (breathes a sigh of relief)

anyway i got a playtest invite for a certain other game so i guess i have an excuse to abandon it lol

Unicorn Overlord reviewed well

2K24 best reviewed wrestling game in 20 years

I get the feeling Contra will not continue this trend

Mostly finished up Unicorn Overlord before i got enough money to also pick up Magic Chaos as well as Death Trick (which launched two days early on Steam. I got the Switch version though so I still had to wait till less than 10 hours ago and I've been stalling on actually getting started on it which I really need to stop once I'm done rambling here)

That said, turns out a ton of other stuff crashed into the middle of the month after all, with the English translation of Murders on the Yangtze River being mere hours away at most which I'm super excited about. Additionally, installs for the game Let's Battle Online dropped just now (it was meant to go live at "5pm" presumably in jst, so it also came out early by about 17 hours) and turns out it really is in English after all (given the dev had allegedly literally removed english support from another game they'd made after getting hate comments or something, I thought for sure that this one wouldn't have it).

Although, it's the kind of translation where I have to admit I can tell why people might've had some words for the other game lol

It was practically promising bad machine translated scripts the moment one saw its title though so if anything I'm glad it's like this. Also the music is unexpectedly decent!

Oh yeah, speaking of music, in other news, it was apparently the 8.5th Anniversary of FF Brave Exvius, and also the 3.5th Anniversary of Mist Train Girls. The latter is notable since Basiscape's Yoshimi Kudo is responsible for the soundtrack, and they just announced their fourth soundtrack album release on the official livestream a couple of hours ago (the first since over a year ago. Notably, the game still gets new music on a regular basis, as they're apparently determined to do unique themes for every new bi-monthly event, which I think is pretty neat. To my surprise, the stream got more viewers than the FFBE stream on at the same time too, so clearly the game is doing pretty well currently. It should have another few soundtrack releases in it at at this rate.)
