Resolution and widescreen support, but this is only really an issue with lazy ports of older games that predate 16:9.
And while this isn't a setting but rather a quality of life feature, the ability to skip cutscenes must always be there. No exceptions. Though I guess you could push for a "pure gameplay" mode where all cutscenes are skipped automatically so you are just immersed in pure uninterrupted gameplay.
