I saw the helicopter shot and my heart immediately sank. Does EVERY challenge need to be a multipart obstacle course ending with either a puzzle or some skill-based target practice?

Siga might actually stand a chance at losing here. They're forced to play a relatively weak trio because two of them sat out last challenge.

I guess they didn't want a repeat of when Jonathan singlehandedly won Taku this challenge

It'd be hilarious if Tim lost his vote and Siga's first tribal council saw the boys' alliance hold zero power.

Inb4 that happens and then Charlie and Maria decide to use the extra vote to vote out one of the girls anyway.

Man, it frustrates me to see these people call themselves superfans when they started watching late and can't do basic shit like put seasons in order.

I feel like Tiffany's advantage was much easier to obtain than Jem's.

Yeah, didn't Tiff just have to go out in the rocks and find the key? Meanwhile Jem needs to measure stuff that's in plain sight and do math.

I'm worried. I don't want Jem to go out here (and if the other target is Ben, I worry that the edit is setting us up to be happy that she goes out instead of him).

I think Jem was better as a pre-merge villian that overplayed than she would be if she went farther, so I'm fine with this.

Tim just sucks though, and I hate that he succeeded.

TAR hasn't been all that exciting yet. The staggered starts instead of a straight-up bunch made this start REALLY slow.

These cousins are such a mess. This season is going to tank once they get eliminated.

TAR has basically been background noise for me for the last few seasons anyway. The last season that I really enjoyed was 30. 31 and 33 were fine but not great. 34 and 35 were kinda boring (35 was hurt tremendously by this show simply not being well-suited for 90 minute episodes, which is also hurting 36). 32 was terrible.

Switching the last two seasons really hurt since now we go back to the pandemic seasons after having a normal season.

Those two chuckleheads clearly weren't long for the race so I'm okay seeing them go here, even if there were less entertaining teams that could have gone.

As for the Survivor merge boot next week, there are quite a few options! Venus, Liz and Moriah all seem like the kind of "safe" choices that wouldn't really have anyone coming to their defense. Hunter is the gigantic physical threat, and Kenzie is a known strategic/social threat. I could easily see any of the five going.

Regarding Survivor, yeah... what all of you said.

Tim and Jem both handled that idol accusation thing poorly. While Tim not offering her a deal when she was giving him the BS, Jem being dismissive of his intelligence just confirmed to him that she was hiding something, and made it clear that the two could not work together long-term. I think she overplayed greatly, while Tim just played poorly.

The challenges really need more diversity, because I barely watch them. That said, the slo-mo shot to punctuate Yanu's victory was amazing, and even though the setup spoiled that the shot was a hit, I didn't mind. Yanu deserved that moment of celebration. I did like the logo-ordering thing, though, since it was something different that a day one fan like me could do in his sleep. Hell, I remember lock combinations by using Survivor seasons!

I liked how Maria used her extra vote to make it appear that everyone on the tribe had a vote. This should be good for tribe unity going forward... except for Mo, who is definitely going to look elsewhere for allies. She may not find many though, and these days the merge boot is usually whoever they can all agree on.

Am surprised that Jem went out here. I'd thought she was the strongest winner contender on Siga, but now I don't think the winner is coming from that group. But I have no clue who has it at this point, and that's why it's so fun.

Glad I'm not watching TAR. It sounds unbearable to have 90-minute episodes with pandemic restrictions. Would not surprise me if that went back to 60 minutes for TAR37, though some weirdos want Survivor to go back to that too. I am not one of those people - I would stop watching if it was 60 minutes again, because 41 to 44 were such a blur because the episodes felt like they were supposed to be longer.

I'm disappointed the twins are out this early. I enjoyed seeing them bumble their way through the race.

Oh and yeah, this. If you're going to call yourself a superfan, you better be able to back that claim up. Like, I don't expect you to remember Brady Finta or Patricia Jackson off the top of your head, but to be able to put the seasons in chronological order is a reasonable ask.

Yeah, its not like there are hundreds of seasons (or they were given an unnamed logo to determine). There are forty named seasons to remember; thats all.

Last night I finished rewatching 42, my first New Era rewatch so far. Still a great season. May do 41 next.

This is still my train of thought. Gun to my head and I have to pick one, I'll put my money on Liz.

I don't remember last season, do they still do the gimmick at the merge where they split into two teams of 6 and one of the teams is fully immune and the odd player out chooses a team they'll be part of before the challenge so they share immunity with them? Or did last year do a 5-5 "team" split with both "teams" going to tribal council...

They do both. 44 was different due to Bruce's medivac messing up the schedule, but I expect to see both of those things pop up in the next few episodes.

Liz gives me losing finalist vibes at this point. I feel like itll be Liz/Moriah/Third person with either a surprise Moriah win or the third person taking home the crown.

Her story in this episode is either that her name "comes up" on the parchments or that she actually manages to integrate and potentially win the season. I'm leaning more toward the former. Shame, since I really want to see her on the jury bench.

Also is this the first spring season in Fiji to not merge to Yanu's beach? I believe Nami is the fall season merge beach, and I can see why they picked there because of the shelter discrepancy.

Yeah, orange got lucky that Ben and Kenzie suck so much at puzzles. Of course, it didn't matter because the only thing Hunter sucks at is remembering the order of Survivor seasons.

I'm thinking Venus or Mo. Leaning Venus but could be convinced otherwise. Like... if Q gets out of Tim that Mo was left out of the Jungle Jem vote, that will be it for her because Q will know she lied.

Guessing Venus. They built her up as cocky in a bad way, and I don't see anyone having her back.

I feel bad about Moriah (and really, the fact that the Sigas are willing to throw her under the bus should indicate that she's least solidly with them), but if this gets the tribe to take out one of the boring as fuck Sigas, I'm all for it. Venus is so much better of a character than Moriah. She's just better at narrating, and she has a personality beyond strategizing.

Siga's going to bail out Venus in a way she didn't expect, aren't they?

Also, this is Moriah's own fault: you got blindsided and you're clearly at the bottom of your five...you should have made inroads with Yanu at least...bottom of a group of 4 is better than bottom of a group of 5.

Venus is so bad at Survivor

Venus didn't just fucking listen to "Vote out Mo" and now she may be going home accordingly. If she'd just done as she was told, as she should when she has as little power as she has right now, she'd probably make jury no problem. And it sucks that we won't get to see her looking glamorous on the jury bench.

There has been SO MUCH bad play this episode, and I love it. Siga establishing that their fivesome runs this game. Odd conclusions. Shooting a shot without a bullet. All kinds of crazy bad play.

Venus' problem is that she has good reads, but is TERRIBLE as executing them. Like, everything she says is true and accurate, but she alienates people because she's unwilling to take a lesser option.

Yeah, if Jelinsky wasn't on this season, I'd say Jeff's speech about "one of you has no chance of winning this game" was referring to Venus.

Yeah, as I alluded to in the previous post, one thing I bring up consistently is "Don't call your shot if you don't have any bullets." Venus called a shot on Charlie despite her lacking any bullets. If she'd just trusted that the Nami/Yanu group had her back and voted Mo, she'd make it through another vote, but she won't because she tried to run shit when she had no power... and REALLY bad reasoning. The girls already have a 7-6 majority. You can afford to lose Mo, who's a Siga lemming anyway.

I am hoping it's Mo accordingly, but I think it's Venus at solely her own fault. She'll vote for Charlie and look like an idiot in doing so.
