Give me an angry asshole instead of a Happy Terrific Tuesday! If you worry about or acknowledge any deep rooted and serious issues that greatly affect your work day and could bring the whole company down youre just being a Negative Nancy and that doesnt help anyone! At least we have a job and the grass isnt always greener out there!

Getting shot in the arm vs getting shot in the leg in my opinion. Neither makes for a healthy work environment.

A mean boss is at least more honest and can more easily get on their good side. The nice boss will smile as they're preparing layoffs.

Never really dealt with a mean boss. Some I didn't like, sure, but that's was mostly because of incompetence or neoptism.

Toxic positivity is awful. I'm not saying mean and pessimistic is great, but they're usually at least honest, which makes interactions with them less stressful. The pessimistic side will also be better for choosing and implementing goals that can actually be ethically achieved.

when i was employed at walmart, i hated the fake corporate way my bosses talked, with fake positivity and fake enthusiasm. they pretended to care about what you think or feel

i spent months without a chair for accommodations and they tried to act like they actually cared about my disability. felt really degrading. i never got accommodations because i needed a doctor's note so i quit

At least the happy boss is more inclined to leave you to it while the mean boss will get on your ass often about things that aren't your fault

this, and asshole bosses who piss me off just make me work slower and consider working elsewhere

In my experience they do the exact same thing except passive aggressively which is even worse, and then gaslight you into thinking it somehow IS your fault or your responsibility.

Corporate "niceness" is some of the most evil shit in the workplace. I've worked for a few offices that push this "we're a family" bullshit and it's borderline cultlike.
