Saying all rap songs do this is just objectively false. There is a lot of rap that that is hyping up the artist, and there is a lot of rap that does nothing of the sort.

I hear that, it's like when people think Heavy Metal is either dumb long hair dudes trying to get laid and singing about mindless party all night and bang blondes... or they think it's all death and satan shit.

Okay, so it's a concept song. That's kinda of less common than dudes making songs about being a gang banger because that's who they hang out with even though they're rapping about something that never happened. Like I don't think Big Punisher actually riddled two middlemen who didn't do diddly.

Yeah, a lot of rap songs are about people doing things theyve probably never done, as are an insane amount of songs in every genre. Again, there are an incredibly large amount of rap songs that arent like this.

I can't argue there, I mostly know what rap was popular on the radio/MTV and some friends from the 90s and 2000s.

It's very possible that I am missing a lot that I would like, but also I had people try to get me into different artists and none took really. I'm not against the genre on principle, I kind of wish I was able to enjoy it more.

Its an incredibly broad genre, and theres a ton of interesting stuff to find. Its not for everyone of course, so it may just not be your thing, but if you ever feel like giving it a chance again, i could recommend some songs i enjoy.

I kinda already said that I don't. And I'm aware of how much rap music isn't just East Coast West Coast Gangsta rap. I specifically mentioned Freestyle from the Arsonists, Del and Jurassic 5 for starters.

Same. I've found more good rappers in the last few years then most of my time listening to it as a whole. It's as diverse a genre as any other, with tons of subgenres to dig into

Gangstas paradise is like the exact opposite of talking about how hard he is lmao. I obviously dont believe rap peaked with it, but its literally about how gangstas paradise will probably kill him before 24 lmao.

TBH, I never quite understood that. Because Gangsta's Paradise was released in 1994-1995 and he was in his 30s.

I like current music on the whole less and less.

Just mostly auto-tuned garbage now.
