I wasn't prepared for that level of badness. Not Michael Jackson bad but the original kind. I think Leslie Jones was just edited in during the last half of the movie. No one really talked to her. She was just there giving lame one-liners.

Is Afterlife worth watching?

I haven't watched afterlife but I have to assume its better.

I refuse to watch the 2016 version. It just looks so bad. With that being said I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Afterlife and it definitely tickled my nostalgia factor.

Be careful criticizing that movie, remember what happened to the AVGN.

However, it failed I think it faulty to assume that all stuff in movie and shows, and such are as bad or worse.

Bayformers is a strong contender about how Pre-2016 can screw up and also got 4 more installments.

I watched Afterlife for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was very enjoyable and the IP was handled with great care. It was a bit lacking in that special dry sense of humor the original brought, and focuses more on constant nostalgia bait. However it was overall a well made movie and a worthy successor IMO.

After watching 2016 on freevee I noticed LG channels has the original for free. Watching that now to cleanse my pallet.

The original Ghostbusters' humor was more dry and sarcastic for the most part. 16's was like any dumb comedy of that era.

He didn't even criticize the movie. He just said he wasn't interested and wasn't going to watch it and he still got crap for it. It didn't really affect him though. He did the smart thing and didn't engage with his critics.

Afterlife is probably the biggest nostalgia wankfest movie I've ever seen. Which is a shame because I thought the movie was still fairly well made, but watching Afterlife just reminded me of the "member berries" from South Park lol.

He was attacked like everyone else, since Sony made it look like people only hated the trailer for the film because it had women in it.... instead of it just looking like garbage (Redlettermedia had a video on it, they basically deleted comments that went against the narrative in a sad attempt to market the film.)

People jumped onto him because they thought he was being sexist, but he just didn't want to watch it because it was a reboot that ignored the previous films.

Pat the NES Punk mentioned the controversy to him later, and he was basically like "why would it having women have anything to do with it?". The subject of arguing over an all-female cast went completely over his head.

This will never not be the funniest thing about this movie, which is extra sad because this is supposed to be a comedy movie.

I'm surprised you found it bad. Before it released, it was either going to be the best or worst movie ever, depending on the person. Then once it came out, both sides kind of quietly agreed that it was very meh and forgettable and nobody talked about it anymore.

Afterlife is definitely better than 2016, but it leans real hard on the memberberries and I honestly don't know why I give it more of a pass than other stuff which does the same shit. I won't be as forgiving towards Frozen Empire if it has the same or similar level of memberberries, already wish that Slimer and those mini Stay Pufts from the trailer were yeeted from the movie to focus on the deep freeze.

Movie gets way too much hate. Its basically a modern-type comedy movie with ghosts. If you dont like modern-type comedies, thats one thing. Of course this isnt for you.

But those people who were screeching about the evil feminist movie! gtf outta here lmao. It was never trying to replace the original.

2016 wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. I kinda liked it

I watched it like two years ago because my gf and I had no better ideas. We both agreed that it just wasn't funny, despite obviously trying to be funny... and obviously, the creators thinking it was way funnier than it was.

It wasn't offensively bad, but it was still pretty bad. The worst offense was that it was a reboot, not a sequel.

Thankfully, Afterlife corrected that mistake and attempted it again. What's fun about that is that the "new Ghostbusters" team is ethnically diverse (also two girls, two boys) without feeling like it was forced to be that way.

Absolutely nothing?

Ghostbusters 2016 was the definition of "mid". It's not good, but also nowhere near as bad as everyone was claiming it was.

Ultimately forgettable.

AVGN got lots of shit for it, the thing is that he ignored it and the haters went on to the ones that tried to explain why they disliked it.

Just watched Afterlife.

It was ok I guess as a sequel to the originals. Just had to overlook these kids doing such next level shit on their own.

I thought afterlife was better than the female one
