Meanwhile, the games that went with a more unique art style look way better even under a modern lens. It is like CGI vs. animatronics for movies. kind9 03/05/24 9:12:00 AM #4:	I prefer games that are fun, period. But I guess I do like to marvel at modern computer graphics, as I have since the first 3D games. I've been playing Myst for VR and shitting my pants at how cool it is to play one of my favorite games from childhood with modern graphics & in VR. A game with a strong story and variable character interaction will appeal to me regardless of what the characters look like. A game with minimal story or a complete lack of actual "roleplaying" generally leaves me cold no matter what. I don't like most Nintendo games (at least not post SNES), but it has little to do with what the characters look like. I'd probably have been all over Breath of the Wild if it looked the same but played more like, say, Baldur's Gate III. SinisterSlay posted... On the whole, I probably tend toward less realism simply because greater realism tends to mean movement has to feel semi-realistic to avoid jarring with the art style and that often conflicts with making it feel good to move around, but that's hardly absolute and there are times when clunkier movement works well (like horror games). --- This is my signature.
