Hard mode playhrough finally switched to Graphics mode and yeah... It feels at first like the game is struggling. Like things are in slow motion. Very jarring that almost makes me want to switch back to performance mode. However once I got used to it, it just looks A LOT better. Very noticeable difference in quality. It's great so I'm sticking with Graphics.

Okay Queen's blood is back to confusing me.

I beat Michaela, but I'm not sure how I did it. She kept destroying cards or something, and I feel like I lucked out and won

Honestly queensblood was free to me until the last couple incredibly difficult challenges/last story match.

I pretty much ran the same deck from start to finish just swapping out things that were clear upgrades.

Then it was a hard wall.

I'm not sure how long I have to go until the QB endgame, but I'm in Chapter 11 now and the last match (against a Shinra soldier) needed a few restarts. I'm just running the basic "synergy buffs" type of deck and haven't experimented with destroy/replace cards.

Yeah I'm using an enhancement deck too and it's owned pretty much every match in 1-2 attempts. I won a game 70-0 once it was pretty silly.

Enhance + fat chocobo has been strong so far

Okay, the Glide de Chocobo minigame is heinous.

I was in awe at how bad it was, in a game where I already hated almost every minigame already it still stood out.

It's extra baffling on account of not having inverted flight controls.

In what flight sim does down actually point you down? It's completely asinine, especially considering the plethora of accessibility options already in the game.

I'm convinced Square's top question for play testers was "do you think someone trying to Platinum this game will hate the world?"

Really every element of it seems deliberately spiteful, right down to the controls.

Fall Guys isn't fun when it's one touch death with no physics.

I enjoyed that one too lol.

Most of the mini games are enjoyable tbh, just some very vocal whiners here.

The frog game was a headache in retrospect, but I wouldn't put it in the AVGN "What were they thinking?!" category like chocobo gliding. The controls make sense and there aren't any weird quirks to unravel. It's just execution and it's a bit annoying.

Almost every bad minigame becomes tolerable because the songs are so good. I still spent 15 minutes on that frog crap because I adored the music.

The Soundtrack is UNQUESTIONABLY the best thing about this game, top to bottom. Nothing else in it compares.

And yes, Chocobo Gliding is worse. Might be in the top 10 worst minigames of all time.

My friend keeps saying how he hates QB, which is just a failure of taste on his part.

People had issues with Chocobo Gliding? Yeah it was weird you couldn't invert the controls but it wasn't particularly difficult.

Fall Guys wasn't fun because the physics made no sense and screw ups weren't punished. How dare the game challenge players even a little bit with clear repeatable patterns and physics that function consistently.

Not hard at all? Did you get all the high scores? I had to do research to even understand how it was possible.

Definitely not, I only got the high score on the first one to get Yuffie's weapon. Then I did the next one twice and realized oh this is just unbearable.

I love Barrett so much.

I still think the worst minigame I've seen so far has been the sit-ups. It would have been difficult enough on its own, but changing the inputs from face buttons to shoulder buttons was cruel.

Oh yeah, sit-ups... Even then, it's only cruel, not cruel and baffling.

Up to Corel hard mode. And somehow the sidequests in the Grasslands have been the most difficult fights so far. One of them was just unfair.

Sit ups I wasn't a big fan of but mostly because I don't think the game explained how button mash and soft hold looked differently from each other and I screwed up a bunch of times picking the wrong one as a result. If not for that, we'll still not the greatest minigame, but also didn't overstay its welcome.

Man, I keep hearing you guys complain about minigames I haven't got to yet and dreading them and then I get to them and they're all just fine. The chicken clanging one is probably one of the funniest ones yet and the gliding Chocobo one is fun. Even the Moogle herding one, which is probably the worst one, is at least easy.

My criteria for a mini game being good is I would have to want to boot it up to play it on it's own, even if it was entirely it's own thing and not part of a bigger game.

Maybe that's too extreme, but the way I see it if it's not good enough on it's own to be fun then it's not worth my time.

My criteria for a good mini game is that it has to be fun enough that grinding for all the rewards is something I look forward to doing.

The box game from Remake was fun. The Frog Minigame? Not really fun. Also annoying when you get like 1:19. Doesn't help that the music is catchingly annoying. The mog catching game is just kind of boring, and i can't see myself grinding it to get more moogle medals. I did manage to at least get all the rewards from the frog minigame, and will probably never use them.

Fort Condor though is great. As is the rest of the game. I don't think I've ever explored a game as in depth as I have Rebirth. With Skyrim probably being the closest.

Uh Queen's Blood would be the only minigame in all rpgs that would pass if that was the bar lol

Not even Triple Triad would for me.

I would 100% buy a game with Triple Triad as its main focus.

Queen's Blood, Blitzball, and Fort Condor too.

To be clear, when I say "boot it up on it's own", I mean I would be OK with opening it up on my phone to play for 5 minutes while waiting for a haircut, not that it is it's own purchasable product.

You spent hundreds of hours crafting in FF14. Pretty clear your minigame taste is no good.

3D Brawler is the most depressing to me because it was the one I was looking forward to the most.

I spent like 5 hours crafting in XIV and hated every second of it.

Just make proper telegraphs instead of making them all so similar, and 3D Brawler would be fine.
