I watched Philosopher's Stone last week, too.

I didn't Google anything about it. I didn't look anything up about Harry Potter on any website. I was completely disconnected from my phone or computer while watching it. I just played it on a DVD on my PS4.

And yet my Facebook feed today is FULL of Chamber of Secrets related things. Even some random stuff about the actress that played Professor Sprout.

the bolded part is just actually something the actress said about HP fans in the last week

the other stuff is cause your phone is perpetually actively listening to you

that's why i always put my phone and tablet in the other room just in case

i don't want the alphabet agencies to hear me intensely moan "don't stop daddy"

I swear I've had multiple times where I talked about something in a room with no computer, no smart phones, no Alexa or anything, with the only possible piece of technology that could potentially "listen" being my TV that isn't actually hooked up to my network.

And then shortly after I'd start getting YouTube videos recommended to me that related to the thing I was talking about in some way. Or YouTube would start showing related ads (like the time I needed a plumber and I started getting ads for local plumbers). Where it should have absolutely no idea that I need that thing even coincidentally.

What makes it even worse in my case is that I deliberately don't use an account for YouTube and I don't use Google for anything else (I even avoid Chromium-based browsers), so I can't even assume that YouTube is somehow reading my Google searches or email or whatever and then linking that data to my Google/YouTube profile.

They are watching and listening to us. They know who they are.

There's a non-zero chance that you were randomly shown some Harry Potter content before this and subconsciously displayed enough interest in it that the algorithm saw fit to step up what it showed you (which may even have influenced your decision to watch the movies). Toss in the Bader-Meinhoff effect (or similar forms of semantic priming) making you more likely to notice HP content now that you've watched the movie, and the fact that you likely displayed more interest in the HP content when scrolling through Facebook now, and you've got a recipe to have your feed filled with it even if you didn't leave any significant opportunities to collect that data.

That, and your PS4 probably communicated that you were playing the movie. Even without directly connecting it to your Facebook, it could communicate that information by relating it to your IP address.

Probably just confirmation bias.
