Yes. Always close to flush, as otherwise a shotgun of shit and piss particles gets punched up into the air, and as a result leave it closed.

I close both cus I watched a video in elementary school saying that leaving it open can throw fecal germs up to 20 feet. idk if that's true, but I'm a germaphobe and won't take that risk, my toothbrush is within 20 feet of the toilet and there's no way that I'm about to brush my teeth with poo germs all over my brush.
