not sure why on my microsoft authy the bubble next to the account changed to HT for nintendo, not sure what it said before but it didn't say that before, my playstation turned to S for sony as well. i changed my nintendo pass and authy worked so idk. no unusual sign-in's.

also not sure what it said before, but don't know why the bubble says HT next to the nintendo name. is it a glitch? a random assigned set of letters since nintendo don't have its own icon like say amazon or something?

just want a clear answer been stressing about it badly today.

Either Nintendo hasn't provided Authy an image to use, or Authy hasn't added an image themselves for Nintendo. I don't know what HT stands for.

It's an open protocol that works interchangeably over many "auth" apps and websites. Visual bugs are not really a high priority fix and it's impossible to account for every single service that could ever use it.

Checked for myself, Nintendo's official guide walks you through setting up for Google's Authenticator, which doesn't use images. Whoever set it up had no reason to provide any images for OAuth.

that's what i'm leaning on thinking, that it's a bug. i think the nintendo one was blank before? do you think its a bug rather than a hack? maybe the next update for the app might clear it, unless it does on its own or... not ever. lol.

It's not bad, it's a protocol that works with no oversight by design. I've created websites that use authenticator apps, it doesn't even connect to the internet. I could turn off my internet on both my phone and computer and use my authenticator all locally (on a site run locally).

Authy doesn't even need to be aware of Nintendo's existence to support them, that's by design. Any visuals next to it are just "Authy's best guess".

It derives time-sensitive hashes from a shared private key. That's all it does.

The OAuth QR contains the name of the website with the secret key, that's how it got the name "Nintendo".

thank you, you came to the rescue again, been trying to figure this out since this morning.

i actually have another question concerning the authy. ok, at times from frequently, to seldom... when i click the 3 dots it'll say please sign in to back up, i click it and its all my credential's don't even need to enter a password. this isn't just exclusive to this google pixel 6a phone, the phone i had before had the same issue. it was a cheap government phone for families that have EBT.

i worried about it at first, but this has been like 2 years between both phones tbh. just worried if it happens the day i need a new phone, how i'd get back on my authenticator. i worry about that a lot, i forgot how i did when i got the pixel, so would have to relearn someday with a new phone.
