There's literally a comic book straight up called "the death of superman" in the title so I'm sure he's been unalived, but has batman ever had a comic book death?

Bruce Wayne "died" during Final Crisis and Dick Grayson became Batman (until the New 52 started and DC went back to the status quo). Bruce wasn't actually dead though but only transported through time.

The Batman from Earth 2 also of course died long before the Death of Superman.

I used to joke about how many times Liu Kang in Mortal Kombat has been killed, but now it might as well be a badge of honor.

But killing off Kitana, still mad about that one.

There have been many near deaths and fake deaths.

Earth-2 Batman died in 1979 (and again in a rebooted multiverse in 2012)

in 1992 he was mortally wounded but restored by a Lazarus pit
in the same year he "technically" died by electrocution but Robin revived him
In 2000 the Joker took Mr Mxyzptlk's powers and used it to kill and resurrect Batman multiple times
in 2009 Darkseid was believed to have killed Batman but had actually had sent him back to Prehistoric (Captain America had a similar story at Marvel)

While that last one was not truly a death but I will add (in the spirit of Monty Python and the Holy Grail) that Superman was not quite dead... and he got better

He also died in the Dark Knights: Metal event from a couple years ago, but kept on going because he had a Black Lantern ring. Wasn't revealed until near the end though, where when he, Supes and Diana are baring their truths, and his was that actually was killed at the start of the event.

Which happened like 6 months after Marvel wrapped up their "Cap wasn't actually dead, but shot with a bullet that sent him through time" arc.

Also Batman had his back broken in the early 90s. It happened around the same time as Death of Superman, and was kinda treated almost like a Batman death. It was a huge event involving Bane. But nobody knew his back would be broken until the ending

That was the Omega Sanction. It's a different power that does whatever the fuck the writer wants it to do. It's basically what JoJo used to beat the main bad guy at the end of part 5.

They also synced up with Bucky and Jason Todd if I'm remembering the timing correctly.
