Yes, it's a big problem and always has been. It's even worse in Spain and Eastern Europe.
The racism used to be shameless and open in the 70s and 80s (throwing bananas at black players, etc.). Now it takes the form of disgusting social media abuse whenever a black player is perceived as making a mistake (like missing a penalty). There are quite severe punishments for anyone who is caught doing this, including prison and lifetime stadium bans, but there are a lot of stupid racist scum in the UK, unfortunately. --- 'Vinyl is the poor man's art collection'. ...
