Remaster for texture and audio updates.
Remake for when they redo it from the ground up
And the third option for that bullshit where they redid the graphics and audio and probably used a different engine, but the design is exactly the same.

Like the Super Mario RPG remake, which is literally the same thing but they technically remade the assets from the ground up, as opposed to the FF7 remake where everyone bitched and moaned because it didn't do exactly the same thing again.

Or maybe remake can be the term for the bullshit one and the new term can be for a game that actually does something new. I don't know/care.

I heard the mario rpg remake is way easier than the original. So it's not 100% the same

It's remake, remaster, retrofit. I would argue the tomb raider collection was a retrofit because it added new gameplay elements, but the game's still had their clunky movement & camera while being touched up slightly graphically
