We had a Pokemon topic going for a while but looks like it finally purged, figured a general TCG topic might last a bit longer.

On the MTG font I picked up a box of Karlov Manor play boosters but haven't had a chance to get to them yet. What's the general consensus on play boosters so far? At a quick glance they pretty much just seem like set boosters.
On the Pokemon front I've been out of the loop since the 151 set. Thought I remembered hearing something about a shiny only set but that could have been a while ago at this point.

Play Boosters are alright. They can cause some swingyness to draft due to multiple rares and whatnot, but as far as opening goes they are pretty similar to set boosters, yeah.

Anyone play Lorcana? I've gotten pretty addicted to it.

I'm pretty into Lorcana. A game shop in my city runs weekly league play and occasional drafts and I've been attending a good amount of them.

I managed to go 5-0 in one of the drafts and won a D100 Gift Set and a Pooh Hunny Wizard pin.

Awesome! I haven't done a lot of drafts yet, but have fun at the weekly league play. I've been running a steel/emerald midrange deck that plays pretty well!

I use an Amethyst Emerald deck that utilities the low cost/high lore characters, as well as some bounce with a few of the Mim/Merlin cards. It's fun until I get hit with Grab Your Swords >.>

Lorcana totally slipped my mind, grabbed a few decks when it first came out but never got around to playing.
How do the colors compare to magic?

Grabbed a collector box of Fallout, was going to skip it but then figured what the hell I'm in a fallout-ish mood. I think I'll take my time opening them though because yikes what a stupid amount for a box of cards.

I've only played Magic a few times (which consisted of me just borrowing someone's extra deck to play against them), so I'm not sure how they compare. The last time I played was probably 2011.

I like the play boosters, it sucks having your rare in pack 3 be not in your colors, more rares = more chances to have a consistent draft

I'm continuing to track down vintage Pokemon cards. I've completed the Base Set, and am looking to complete Jungle/Fossill/Rocket/Gym Heroes/Gym Challenge.

Play boosters are pretty great in draft (why the fuck do we only get 13 cards though) but this prerelease showed me how miserable they make Sealed -- which was already pretty miserable

Yeah. I thought I pulled all duds but apparently Jace was $20, Bristly Bill was $15, and the Sword of Wealth and Power was $30.

I moved the first two and really hope I can trade off the last one before it inevitably tanks. I think they're all super overhyped

Oh, another recent card thing I did was get the complete set of Doctor Who MTG UB cards by that I mean I just bought the four premade commander decks. Did not realize that just buying those gave you all the unique cards of the set, and the boosters are just collector boosters that give you variants. Im not really a Magic player, I have no idea how to get into it and even if I did Id want to play standard still, it was fun finding the commander decks and putting all the cards in one big binder.

Anyone got any ideas for a MORPEKO V-UNION deck?
I play pkmn cards and have a pretty good deck going on right now.

How rare is alt art brilliant stars bolthund? Just asking since its part of my deck

I recommend Arena since it gives you free starter decks to use and teaches you the rules if you want to learn how to play. I would not recommend commander as your first actual MTG playing experience.

I've also started collecting Pokemon booster packs! Obviously the 151 and Paldean Fates are nothing to write home about, but gotta start somewhere

I did a couple. First one I went 5-0 with a pile of good W/B cards (Tinybones/Caustic Bronco/Rush of Dread were highlights), second was a weird pool where I built UG (I also got Mana Drain, which did dumb stuff), went 3-2, and snuck into 8th. Definitely feels like rocket tag at times though.
