Cant say that its the case here. Maybe elsewhere.

Very few people can actually drive here though. I have colleagues who are licensed to drive cars despite never having driven one, which explains a lot.

Both I'm afraid. Road rage is up, people shooting each other. Running red lights has become really bad too, people acting like there isn't even a damn light there.

Yes the 'GAF' levels are at an all-time low. Even the products people make are failing at an astronomical level. And that those goes to quality control and just giving af about your fellow man.

In the UK, yes.

In Vietnam, traffic laws are simply not enforced. Most drivers have no license or insurance. Traffic lights, lanes, pavements and speed limits are ignored. Its completely different to the UK.

I do feel it's true, anecdotal evidence, of course. Could be typical boomer thinking.

In my mind, though, zoomers grew to see how millennials were betrayed, and as such, realized the world doesn't reward politeness. Boomers ruled by screwing over others, so why shouldn't we?

Violence is very rare in Hanoi.

Normally, the amount of money exchanged is tiny. A few dollars at most. Its more about one party accepting blame than any real damages.

It's so scary. I do believe social media and the political tribalism has led to this...but what I don't know is how to heal and fix this. That is what we need now...we need to come together as human beings, but I don't know what can do that besides a universally beloved president (Good luck of THAT happening....)

Yeah, cars cost twice as much here as they did in the UK. Given how much less the average person earns, its simply not viable for most people.

Generally, youre looking at motor bike accidents rather than car accidents. Ive never seen violence here outside of combat sports.

A few years back, but that would indicate that bikes outnumber cars at a rate of around 9 or 10 to 1. Sounds about right to me.

I believe the population of Hanoi is around 8.3 million whereas NYC hasnt quite got to 8, but I could be out of date on that.

I think there's been a massive shift in the past decade or two in terms of human interaction, the pandemic just accelerated it. People have their heads down and mind their own business more than they used to.

Whether it's rude or not depends on your perspective, I think.

An example is in the gym. People used to talk to each other more, work in sets with strangers, shoot the shit. Now everyone is on headphones and ignores each other. In some circumstances this might feel anti social, but in other circumstances it might feel more respectful.
