I think he was a good person who really had firm beliefs backing the choices he made. But he really was instrumental in killing the public option. And he was at odds with Democrats and cheerleading for McCain at a time when the rise of GOP extremism clearly needed to be stopped. Even now he was wallowing in third party bullshit with No Labels when stopping Trump at the polls has to be the top priority. You would think someone with his experience would understand that after one of the parties tried to overthrow the government, but apparently not. I don't doubt his character or his service, and I hope he and his family find comfort and peace.
