The anime adaption was officially sponsored by the NFL but......well the anime version isn't all that good. The manga though is fun stuff. If you like over the top things like that big bastard guy right there being in highschool and straight up breaking bones just by grazing people then you will absolutely love this series. (The artist/writer is by the guy that draws the manga version of one punch man, so its got real good art). But yeah, the best japanese highschool team in the country the protagonists were playing against indeed had a female quarterback/her on offense. But the team on which she was playing would essentially be playing a person down because she would be useless in any part of the game other than hitting a jumper if she found herself in space. An NHL goalie is the one that would be closest to reasonable.
