That's a pretty decent list of games..and Spyro 2. What the hell happened in 1999 that that was the best game?!? Somewhat joking but also somewhat not.

Also, Xenoblade Chronicles is trash. That's actually the worst game on that list of winners.

As a #2 seed, Spyro 2 went on a crazy run that included taking down Suikoden 2, Smash Bros, and Final Fantasy VIII

Easily. I've tried like 3 separate times to get through it and I don't think I've made it past like, World 2. I replay 1 pretty regularly and 3 isn't as good but I at least finished it

Before 1995, the most dominant game in tournament history was Portal 2 in 2011; its closest match was getting 60% on Arkham City.

Chrono Trigger's closest bout in this tournament was scoring 66% on Donkey Kong Country 2

Three great games, one very good game, and one turd. I really like the other Spyro games, but 2 is absolute trash. It being the sole winner for the franchise is awful.

Oops, I forgot to vote. Not that it would have made a difference. I was debating which one was my favorite since both so excellent. 1995 top tier year.

I might have to give Chrono Trigger a slight edge, but man, so many fun moments with DKC2 growing up.

Definitely agree with this take. I really like 1 and quite enjoy 3, but 2 is kind of just a mess? I'm surprised that is the one that won especially considering it beat out games like Suikoden 2, SSB, Mario Party, and FFVIII.

Surprised to see all the Spyro 2 hate. Didn't deserve to win for 1999, but it's still great and the best Spyro game.

Spyro 2 is neither the best Spyro nor should it have beaten FF8

It's a damn fine game though and deserves a time in the sun

It's the weakest of the Spyro trilogy by far, but it's "fine".
