That's what I was going to ask, was the reasoning for not counting the studies seriously "they wouldn't lie to trans people and say they were getting treatment when they weren't"?

Seems they would. Of course, not like the standard of proof was held for studies that supported their biases to begin with so any excuse was probably fine.

Given who the TERFs have been palling around with lately, I say we should keep the acronym itself as it is, but change the word that the "F" stands for so that it's instead a certain other F-word that ends in "-ist".

Yeah, I got it in the early stages. If Im honest, I was probably guilty of it myself to a degree, because as much as its an emotive subject for some people, it is possible for comments to be taken out of context or exaggerated after the fact or whatever. And honestly, the first couple of times I heard something dodgy from Rowling, I thought thats what was happening, because shed always seemed really progressive before.

However, its been really clear for some time now that shes not somebody who deserves the benefit of the doubt. Her comments arent being made flippantly about a subject that she knows little about, which some people do with no ill intent. Shes made her whole reason for being attacking a marginalised group and shes been very open about it.

I freaking love Little Witch Academia. I never thought a show could reignite that love for magic, but I found myself utterly enchanted by it.

The few episodes of The Owl House was great as well, I'll have to give that a full view one of these days.

The snippets I've seen from the Cass report give me the same vibes from Mark Regnerus's sterling (read: heavily discredited and eviscerated by both academics and jurists) study on the supposed terrible impact on children caused by being raised in a same-sex couple household.

When J.K. Rowling submitted the first book for approval, she was told to make it more like Roald Dahl. I could be wrong, they feel like a product of that. The innocent kid being tormented by his horrible aunt, uncle, and cousin feels like something right out of a Dahl novel.

Alternatively, they may have always been a part of the story to make Harry sympathetic and build anticipation for when things become magical. Either way, it still feels like something you'd find in Matilda or James and the Giant Peach.
