I didn't till I worked a job that required me to tuck my shirt in and have stuff on my belt with enough weight it would drop my pants if I undid the belt.

Once you get used to the hole, it is difficult to wear any without it.

Wearing some right now, and it is annoying not being able to just whip it out to pee.

Same here. I wear a uniform at work and have a flashlight, radio, etc. on my pants so I avoid all boxer briefs without a fly

Im guessing its because its easy enough to just pull the waistband down; plus, one fewer holes means less of a chance at an inadvertent snake-through.
