I have primary through my job and since I'm young I'm still on my dad's insurance too. Well I've been trying to get a prescription for about a month now and still haven't gotten coverage because of the cryptic ways the insurance companies fight with each other.

I have a message history with my doctor/his nurse assistant on the MyChart app and last Friday they said they'd "never seen this before" in regards to the primary saying it's all good on my doctor's end but denying on the pharmacy's end. They said they'd call the insurance and contact me as soon as they figured out what's going on, still silent so far.

All depends on the plan you got since there is different dual coverage plans also.

I have whats called a PPO D-SNP (The D-SNP part is dual special needs plan), and as long as I go to in-network doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies its normally going to pay for the entire thing.

When it comes to prescriptions I'm assuming they are hesitating on paying for the strength+amount of whatever you are trying to get. Most of these plans even if its a dual coverage one will have a certain limit they aren't going to pay for. (Now if your insurance definitely pays for this medicine, then I'm taking a guess that wherever you are trying to fill it at is trying to order brand name instead of generic since brand-names cost a shit-ton more).

It's been one week since they said they'd call my insurance. I messaged to see if there's been progress and they said they're only halfway through the process due to the complexity of it.
